Contains spoilers to the Aliens movie.  Do not read if you have not watched Aliens.  Immediately go and watch it.

There is a new (the last three months) Aliens arcade game.  This has you going back to LV426 and cleaning up after a lost crew of marines.  The arcade game conveniently forgets that the nuclear reactor on the cooling plant vapourised the colony.  Hey lets not stand in the way of a good video game.  It is a light gun game and you get a flame unit and a grenade launcher as well as the normal machine gun.  all of the items have to be stoked up by shooting gun icons, grenade icons etc.  It is fantastic fun and you get to destroy loads of Aliens.  I choose the bug hunt part of the game and it rocked.  I felt like a colonial marine and wanted to kick some Alien butt!  So afterwards I went and say Eli Roth's shocker Hostel 2 which was really nasty.
I played it over here in the UK so look out for it in the US its awesome.. well for a light gun game.

I played that game at an arcade at a mall and its called Aliens:  Extermination. I thought it was really good and the force feedback in the gun was better than most arcade games and really put you into the game. The graphics were fairly nice and I hope the game is ported to consoles although I don't it will.

I hope it isn't ported.  If arcade games weren't ported all the time, then there'd still be arcades.  Yeah, I know I'm a hypocrit, what with my 10,000 versions of PacMan and Dig Dug, but then, I never claimed to make a whole lot of sense.

It's about damn time we had a new light gun game, and Aliens makes for a great theme.  I'll keep my finger crossed but won't hold my breath.

You aren't being a hypocrite, owning OLD games like Pac-Man and Dig -Dug, Galaga, etc.., Atarifever. To attract people the arcade has to offer something NEW! In 1982, there was a slump- too many space and maze games. The arcades were saved for awhile first by JOUST(a truly new idea) and especially DRAGONS LAIR (The laser disc craze turned out to be as big a flop as the Hula-Hoop once the craze was over, but it DID attract people!); STREET FIGHTER 2 was another arcade savior.

Right now we are in the light gun/driving/fighting/dancing game slump. We need some NEW idea in gaming. Something like real 3-D holographic games or SOMETHING that you can't easily translate to the home systems (it's sad; I recall the days when we waited impatiantly for "our favorite arcade game" to come to OUR home system..today, IF it happens, players are often unaware it WAS an arcade coin-op first! )

Arcades would have died out anyway.  I used to play in arcades but consoles killed them off with their superior games like Alien Trilogy.

A couple of days ago Alienblue posted about a Jurrasic Park light game, then we have this one, wouldn't it make just too much sense altogether to have these games on Wii? Either as dowloads or on a disk, these could be some sweet games to have at home. I wish Nintendo would market the Wii as a home arcade machine, in addition to being a console.

You can never COMPLETELY bring a coin-op home! The atmosphere of being "away from home:, in an arcade or store or thetre lobby makes the difference!...also coin-ops use game-specific hardware, big massive lightguns, steering wheels etc.. sure they make some home controllers like this but not nearly as sturdy as the arcade! I WANT to leave home for entertainment SOMEtimes!

Alien -

I live in the middle of nowwhere! Would have to drive many moons to find modern arcade games. So it would be awesome for me to have light gun arcade on the Wii.
