Would UBISOFT make Red Steel 2?

Postby Anayo1 » July 6th, 2007, 2:26 pm

As one of the Wii's launch games, Red Steel sold a lot of copies. However, the general consensus seems to be that it set unrealistically high expectations for itself, so while it was entertaining it didn't fair very well with most reviewers. I was just pondering if Ubisoft would venture to make Red Steel 2. What does everyone else think?

Old news, that is. Red Steel 2 is in development, and though Ubisoft hasn't made an official announcement, Ubisoft people have already let slip that they are working on it.

Seems almost inevitable I think.

I wouldn't consider it a sure thing, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

E3 (or what it was formerly known as E3) is coming up shortly.  I'm guessing we'll see a much better version with semi-realistic sword play or at least a God of War like sword play within the demo at E3, assuming they announce the sequel.

Basically, it's like this: as long as a game sells well, a sequel is usually inevitable.  Quality doesn't matter, either, as bad games like Frogger (PS1), Driver 3 (Xbox/PS2), and Enter the Matrix (every system), to name a few, all got sequels because they sold well.

Well Driv3r and Enter the Matrix are uber crap, but am I the only person ever to like PSOne Frogger? That game is really neat. Not as good as classic Frogger, but I'd give between a C+ and a B+ (probably about a solid B is the most accurate).

I recently tried Red Steel, and I couldn't stand the controls. If Ubisoft makes a sequel they need to look at games like Call of Duty 3 and (I'm assuming here) Metroid Prime 3 to see how to control an FPS on the Wii.

...and RE4 Wii Edition.  Those controls are the best so far.  Best of any console FPS in history, I'd venture to say.
