That's right up there with "unsinkable" on the list of promises that are likely to end poorly.

We're talking about a quad-core processor, not some gimmicky technology.  It's a fact that games and programs will be taking advantage of this one or two years down the line.  When you say this PC is going to only play puzzle games in two years, I assume you're either not very knowledgeable or being disingenuous.

Yeah but that PC you made there looks quite expensive.   The video card alone goes for about the price you can buy the Xbox 360 for.  A PC is definitely a system for the hardcore.  PC is for people who want to spend a ton of money, don't care about having to spend hours configuring stuff and dealing with bugs, to get the best experience.    But with a console, you can just plug your system into your big screen, and 99 percent of the time, it works perfectly and you can play a game just like that. Not to mention that consoles are much cheaper.  I don't know what you're talking about consoles being high priced, the developers generally take a hit on the price (except the Wii),  and the graphics you can get on the PS3 or 360 are comparable to graphics on a high end PC because those system were specifically made for gaming, but much cheaper.    When you add all these items, PC gaming will never break free from the niche scene, but it certainly a niche that needs to be filled.

Personally, I make upgrades to my PC every two years or so, just to make sure all the latest apps are running fast.  I use my PC for work, and newer processors make multitasking easier.   I tend to buy mid-range graphics cards when they are cheap and offer a good performance boost.  Keeping my hardware up-to-date for the latest games isn't as expensive as many people think.

Yeah, it's a cheap alternative, but if you only buy one console, you're missing out on all the exclusives on the others.  I think having to buy three consoles to play all the console games is just as annoying as having to upgrade hardware on a PC.

Right now it's about the same, with PCs having the luxury of displaying much higher resolutions.  But that's mainly because software developers are just now taking advantage of DX10, which can render effects that are impossible on the 360 and PS3.   I find it funny how the previous poster claimed that PC wouldn't be able to play many games in a year, when in truth, that's when games will come out that finally take advantage of the hardware.

My PC can play all/most of the games out on the market from DOOM to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion without any latency. I bought the parts to build this myself... Some off of ebay.com at very low prices. I am not stupid enough to buy this from an actual company. Get real the whole PC whould probably cost around $5,999.99. I am not that rich lol. The framework was custom designed by mean(drawn) and then I handed it off to a freind. It was just a simply designed PC frame. The video card that I have luckily ended up being pretty cheap on ebay... There were hardly any bidders. All in all this PC came up to $2,075.00... It actually is nothing compared to some peoples computers which have the memory capacity of 10 of any of the Next Gen consoles.

In my opinion it was a great deal this has lasted my for approx. 2yrs. and I think it will last me for about another decade. Of course, I am into alot of online games such as CS(Counter Strike), Day of Defeat, Company of Heroes, and others. I do enjoy playing Elder Scrolls IV from time to time... I've always been a fan of that series.

I am getting a bit off topic aren't I?

Anyways, actually most people are better off with an average PC...You don't really buy alot of games for it because the ones you do really last. Especially the online FPS.

If you buy a PS3, Xbox 360, or a Wii... There games can be quickly beaten and well you will just end up buying more and more games. BTW VideoGameCritic... I see all these Reviews on videogames... Have you bought them all? If so, how much money did you spend on them? It probably amounts to way way over $2,075.00!

Hey! Hey!  Let's keep the words simple here Mr. fancy talk.  What kind of a word is knowledgeable?  That's, like, a million sylables.

In all seriousness, the whatever whatever processors don't make a lick of difference.  Something, somewhere will still be different.  Maybe he'll need a copy of Vista (DON'T!  Trust me, just don't), maybe he'll need to download some software that will spy on him while he plays, maybe he'll need to put something in there to help keep up (I'm no computer scientist), but until we're using commodore type computers again, computer gaming will never, ever be something you can future proof.  Sorry, it hasn't happened, and it isn't about to.

So you have, what, 2 more to look forward to?

Yeah, I understand, that one is pretty good.  But then, haven't you had your fill of strategy games on the PC yet, or will you PC gamers never tire of that one genre?  Nothing against it, but there has to be a point at which you guys request, you know, anything else, ever.  Oh wait, I forgot, there's another episode of Half Life... also on the 360.  But regarding "exclusive, worth a couple grand content wise" there's...um... that one with the... um... space strategy.  And the one with the... uh... world war 2 strategy.  And the Roman strategy.  And the pirate strategy.  And the 1812 strategy.  And the *yawn*... Sorry, I dozed off there for a minute.  Enjoy your waste of money.

You know I never really wanted to offend you, but there are tons of RPG, FPS, and Strategy games on the PC. Anyways, atleast your brain is working when playing a strategy game... However maybe you just like sitting there wasting your life blowing up junk in GoW...

Unreal Tournament 3 is coming out for the PC... Developers are thinking on Diablo 3. You don't realize it but the console is facing the same problem... How many games do you guys have to have to feel content??? 1 PC is worth 20 Console games except in the case of CounterStrike, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Unreal...

I realize that it would be a waste of money for many, me included, but it's not a waste of money for him if, from his perspective, it gives him commensurate value.
