Viggo is OK. He's actually more a part of the previous generation of actors though.
As far as people under 40, the only one I can think of that has any sort of gravitas is Vin Diesel..... and he is a mediocre actor, without the charm of Arnold.

What about Edward Norton? He can be boyish but he can also be serious or even menacing.

Vin Diesel? No way, you could just as well cast Stiffler or Johny Knoxville.
How about.......Johnny Depp?
eh? eh? Not over the top like Captain Jack, but this guy can act.
I don't even remember where I heard the Matt Damon thing, but I think they said Adrian Brody as Spock and can't remeber who as Bones.

Brody as Spock sounds about right. Edward Norton is a great actor, no doubt. But when I'm talking about are men that can play hero roles. Where are they?
The only exception is Christian Bale. He's terrific as Batman.
