What is so great about Windows Vista? Pretty simple question but requires some thought... I wanted to hear your opinions.

Nothing. I have Home Premium, and it's a complete loss. It's total, total junk. A whole bunch of stuff that works with XP won't work with it (some game demos I tried downloading, MSN needed a patch, the Nintendo Wi-fi dongle won't work). Also, it turns all the sound off on the computer for no reason, and you need to reset for it to start working again. Also, if Ares runs on it for any length of time the tiles on the bottom stop working and some programs quit. It's wonderful.

What's great? Both the Windows Vista package and the disc inside it are recyclable.
What's not so great? About everything else.
BadVista.org: Stopping Microsoft Windows Vista adoption by promoting free software. Instead of Windows Vista, try a GNU/Linux distribution and install
Compiz Fusion.

I use Linux on my laptop it works great... Most people don't use Linux, but well it is basically virus-free, always updates, and can be personalized by you. Although most non-computer nerds have never even heard of it lol.
Yes, I was thinking about Windows Vista, and well Microsoft really did make a good move. Now all PC gaming companies have to make there games compatible with Windows Vista to sell there games to more casual gamers.
I use my laptop to do business, chatting, etc. Not really for gaming as Linux doesn't seem to work with many of my older games such as Sudden Strike, Warcraft, LoM, AoE, and Unreal Tournament.

Yeah, but this is a gamer website, and most people here want to play games. The problem with linux is, its game selection sucks. Its not user friendly at all. Sure its free, but can you buy linux games at the stores? Right now Microsoft has a virtual monopoly, and if you want to play PC games, you pretty much have to deal with them, and their crappy DRM programs which actually hurt legitimate buyers of their software. They have a monopoly and they know it. All the windows alternatives are horrible for games.

I bought a laptop two weeks ago, and it works fine (except for freezing up with Steam). I can't tell any difference between this and XP.

As long as you're only talking gaming, that's fine. For general use, Ubuntu Linux is much, much, much better than Windows user friendliness wise.

*Buzzer* Wrong. While you have to pay for Cedega, check out this enormous list of Windows games it supports:

My word! Do I see
Elder Scrolls IV, The Oblivion on there? Hey! There's
World of Warcraft!
