Anybody check out the Microsoft Conference last night. I know not many Microsoft fans here so let me tell you my impressions.
Overall I think it average. They barely had any announcements that we didn't know already. They showed some new footage of Resident Evil 5 which looked pretty good some new campaign footage of Halo 3 also looked pretty good but nothing outrageous. They announced 2 Windows live games Gears of War and Viva Pinata.

They showed alot of footage of games that are coming out this year like Mass Effect, Assasin's Creed, Call of Duty 4 and Rock Band. All these games looked amazing but we've seen footage of these games already.
What I was hoping to see was a video of Ninja Gaiden 2. Soul Caliber 4 or an announcement that Sega was going to put Am2 games on Xbox Live Arcade. How hot would that have been. Instead we get Golden Axe and Sonic

They spent a lot of time quoting statistics about how much third party support is making more money than anybody else. Who cares. Reminds me of when Sony used to waste there time telling everybody that they were in first with the PS2.. yadda yadda yadda Unfortunately this leaves the door wide open for PS3 and Wii to come out swinging and become the big buzz at E3.

I didn't watch the conference, but I read some impressions from a live blog over at Kotaku. They pretty much said the same thing as you...nothing really blew them away.
The big announcements were a new Halo 3 special edition 360 (its muddy green and orange) and some new colors for controllers (pink and royal blue).
Personally I feel just like you Superjay...Microsoft had a real big chance to come in and create some thunder. Instead they just played it safe and left the door open for Sony and Nintendo.

Agreed. There wasn't really anything we didn't already know or expect. I still think Sony 06 is the worst E3 conference of all time, but this was bad.

Yeah, but to top that someone would need to have their press conference be just murdering puppies. From now on, I'm using Sony E3 06 as the standard for everything sucky. This press conference was, let's say a .05 on the Sony E3 06 scale (1 is equally bad to the Sony standard). SARS was a .9 on the Sony E3 06 scale. Etc.

I know some of you didn't like the Microsoft E3, but look at the theme of it. It was entirely based on games coming out this year. That means every game they showed would soon be playable. Of course most of them we've seen before, but that doesn't make those games any less awesome. Because Microsoft decided to focus on awesome games that are actually coming out soon unlike Sony, I think it was a huge success. I know its disappointing that we didn't get to see videos of games that are still years away from coming out, but I am highly satistfied with the games they showed.

Thats fine for Microsoft to do that, but the games they showed have been on gamer's radars for so long that it was really dissapointing not to have any huge announcements. Did they really need to focus on Halo 3 all that much? The game is gonna sell millions even if it sucks ass. We have known about Mass Effect, Devil May Cry 4 and others for a long time now. If I wanted to be wowed by a release date list I would just hop on over to IGN. I would have loved to see them highlight some brand new IPs instead of stuff like Call of Duty 4. I think you need a good balance of now and later at E3 and Microsoft clearly didn't show that with their conference.
Their 07 lineup is incredible, but in my eyes, so is Sony and Nintendo's...
