OK, games to check out on your 360, I've got a couple of good choices across every genre:
Oblivion
Gears of War
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Call of Duty 2
The Darkness
Perfect Dark Zero (much easier to justify due to a lower price)
Guitar Hero 2 (assuming you don't already have it on PS2)
Project Gotham Racing 3
Burnout Revenge
Test Drive Unlimited.
Tomb Raider Legend
Virtua Tennis 3
And as far as arcade titles go, Xbox Live has tons of them, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989), Missle Command, Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, Golden Axe (yay!), and many more.
On the other end of the spectrum, here are the games that I wasn't a very big fan of:
Dead or Alive 4 (yes, everyone loved this, but thanks to horrifically cheap AI and some unacceptable bugs and glitches, this is worst DOA since the first one; if you want a good 360 fighter, wait for Virtua Fighter 5)
Dead Rising (another favorite of a lot of people, and one I didn't hate, but it's one of the more frustrating games I've played recently, and it has a lot of rookie mistakes, like awful gun targeting and unfair boss battles; considering Capcom made this, that's inexcusable)
Rumble Roses XX (a weak wrestling game that has OK graphics, but has even less substance than the PS2 game)
Sonic the Hedgehog (the worst game I've played on the system so far, for reasons that most people are quite aware of already; bad loading, tons of glitches, poor controls, a myriad of cheap deaths, a complete desecration to my beloved franchise, and the list goes on)

Well if you like tactical shooter, look for some Tom Clancy Games, all of them are good, especially Rainbow Six Vegas. It isn't like the original PC Rainbow six games, with complicated planning and bad AI. Instead, there is no planning, and it has some of the best AI ever. Basically rainbow six vegas, is nothing like the eariler Rainbow Six games, and now its like Gears of War. It has the same cover system, blind firing system, and general feel. But also your teammates are easily commandable, and will actually go where you tell them to and user cover perfectly unlike other FPSs. You can get some awesome shootouts that can get very tactical as you enter rooms from multiple doors at the same time, and using flanking maneuvers. It also has an awesome multiplayer mode with a ton of mods. I'd say overall, I like it better than Gears of War, and it certainly has far more content, especially in multiplayer where Gears of War is lacking.
Also look for Earth Defense force. Its basically an insane arcade shooter where you will shoot bugs and robots, and there will be hundreds of them on screen at once.
Fight Night Round 3 is also really good. It has amazing graphics, and the punches just feel brutal. Its controls are just perfect, using the second analog stick for punching. Its my favorite boxing game ever.

To save you some dough, try the demos before buying the full games. In the case of Fight Night the demo is better than the full game, at least for versus sparring against a buddy.
Yeah, I'd agree DOA4 is a pass and contrary to the critic's review EDF 2017 is overrated on this board. It's great initially but then gets repetitive as all hell with grind after grind of the same thing over and over. At $40 it's not worth it. At $20 sure, why not.
Gears, Oblivion, Geometry Wars are all A+ games that offer hundreds of hours of play time.
For bargain bin fodder grab Gun and Kameo, both underrated and really fun.
Have a great weekend of gaming!

[QUOTE=Mephisto]I see I was very lucky...
Here is what I am getting so far:
Cold Planet: Extreme Condition
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Spiderman 3 -- brother wants me to get this one =D.
Gears of War
Call of Duty 3
Battle for Middle Earth 2

Do you mean Lost Planet? It is a terrible one player game... but is quite good fun multiplayer over the net.
Oblivion is fantastic the best game I have ever played and I put 160 hours into it. Gear of war is great if a little short. Good multiplayer. Spuderman... good luck.... Call of Duty 3 is good multiplayer but if you want one player COD2 beats it hands down.
I have middle earth and it is quite a good RTS but it has never really got to me. Can I suggest Earth defence force VGC liked it and its cheap. Also worth a look is Fear, its now out of PS3 but it should be cheap on 360. Also I really liked Prey which also should be cheap (it was funny to hear all the Americans swear at each other on multiplayer), lastly I liked the 360 farcry but its not worth having if u have the x box games

Lost Planet is the worst game I've ever played on my Xbox 360, and one of the worst on any system. A piece a crap if there ever was one. Yes, I hated it worse than Sonic.
And to drive Alienblue bonkers, here's a completely random and unnessecary Penthouse pic:
