Hi-

Looking for a good general purpose gamepad, basically for 32-bit era emulation. Any reccomendations?

Thanks,

The 360 wired controller can plug into the PC and it makes an excellent gamepad.  Other than that try pads by logitech.  They seem to be of the highest quality.

Heres a cordless one with rumble support that seems to have the PS2 controller design to it.
I dont have this one, but I have the logitech PS2 wireless controller, and it is the best wireless controller I have ever used.  It has insane battery life, and it the gamepad has survived hundreds of hours of play for over 2 years now. I think I have only replaced the batteries about 3 times.  This one looks like the PS2 pad, and its by logitech, so its certainly of a high qualty.

Try to get a Thrustmaster Dual Analong Gamepad... I have one & it works perfect for CS & Unreal. It features 12 programmable buttons for better gaming and quicker response. Twin built in motors for optimized force-feedback sensations. Its rubber-textured for comfort.

I had a Logitech g-pad... That infernal crap broke in 7 months.

Do NOT get a Logitech Wingman that is the one I had... Get a Thrustmaster or just use the 360 controller...

Any of the above should be fine.  Just stay away from Saitek.  Every analog controller I've used from them has had a huge dead zone, making using the joystick unbearable.
