The movie: Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix deserves a B+ rating... The computer-generated graphics are really sweet... Especially in the fight scene between Voldemort & Dumbledore... In this case the movie is better than the book... They did an awesome job with animation & cutting away uneeded parts from the book... The only thing that keeps this movie from an A rating is that it seems to drag along... Other than that well... HP fans will be thoroughly pleased.

I COULD have deleted this but I won't. Please recall I myself was chastised for posting non-videogame related stuff on here. I'm pretty sure the critic feels the same, still.

It's ok that we often go off on tangents, talking about world news and movies, but every thread should START with a video topic, weather it's aprops or questions about a game or trouble with a HDTV set up, or whatever. If this was about a harry potter GAME, then you could mention the movie.

Just a reminder. But since you brought it up, I myself have never read an HP book or SEEN an HP film (I STARTED to watch the first but it lost me... I'm more a Sci-Fi geek than Fantasy).

Well, this is easily relatable to games. Has anyone played the new Harry Potter game? The Wii version received pretty good reviews, and I'm intrigued about using the Wii-remote as a wand in duels.

PLEASE read the book instead of the movie. The movie absolutely SUCKS in comparison to the book. Just saying.

Oh, and to keep you happy, I got Harry potter 1 and 2 for the PC when I was little. HP 1 wasn't that great, but HP 2 was very enjoyable.

And I thought that Harry Potter five (the movie) was awesome. Definitely the best one in the franchise so far.

Could they have made Ron more of an annoying wuss in the movies? I didn't get that immpression of him in the books at all. Sure he was scared of spiders, but he was a quiet poor, underdog kid who didn't like to get pushed around.

Malfroy is completely unconvincing in the movies as the school bully as well.

But that is like an movie/book thing, the book has to be a complete turd not to be better than the movie, even if the movie is very good!

Yeah, someone post impressions of the Harry Potter Wii game, I may, I say may, have to check it out. Down the road when it bargains anyway.

To me, Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix is the WORST book in the series... JK Rowling put to much information into this book and made it drag on and on... Harry Potter books stopped being an interest past the second. The first 3 movies didn't captivate me and I would give them all C's, however the 4th one did intrigue me with cool animations as did the 5th one. Those are both worth watching...

Steerforth... You definetly need a better understanding of good books and bad books... In many cases the book is better than the movie, but in this one it CLEARLY isn't... The author made a mistake of cramming to much into a single novel...

In maybe-- maybe-- 0.5% of all cases that is true.  In practice, count on the book being better.  I guess that'll change as people start losing the ability to imagine, but until then my mental special effects are better, my mental actors are less boring and whiny, my mental monsters look more scary, and I can hear a character's thoughts without them having to be awkwardly added.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to reread that and see what you mean. What did you think of it in Moby Dick when the author went off on a tangent and started documenting species of whales? I though it odd, but I just went with it.

Herman Melville is a great author... It isn't the same. Harry Potter drags on and on...
