Sony: 60GB PS3 Discontinued After July!
Buy it now and ensure we'll provide support to your existing PS2/PS1 games and save a $100! If you wait you'll have to spend $100 more and half your games won't play on the PS3 as we're no longer including the chips to support your existing games.
Screw that, I have no interest in playing that game. Sony can go suck a lemon soaked in pee for all I care.
This reaks of a mobster mentality of protection money offered to a butcher. Pay us now and we won't come back and bust up your store, ie deny you the ability to play your existing library.
Maybe I wouldn't be so pissed about this but the game they're including in the $600 version is the one that I have no interest in playing. Seriously, if you're going to include a pack in why couldn't they have put in the one game everyone's going to buy anyway, Resistance. Screw Sony

In other words Sony expects Europe to put up with an inferior model at a higher price. Even Nintendo were never that blatant.

This reminds me of an essay by George Orwell about how he witnessed a Jewish American soldier kicking a former Nazi in the ribs after the war ended; Orwell concluded that the soldier probably didn't get any satisfaction out of it, since the Nazis were already vanquished. With Sony's video game empire beginning to crumble, kicking them will ultimately feel hollow in a year or two when the new Bosses dominate the scene, and the Playstation is a faded memory. (Not that Sony doesn't deserve it.)

And the PS3 is $100 more? If I had the money it would ne wayyy down on my list as to what I wanted to do with it. It wouldn't be so bad if Sony had stuff like GEARS OF WAR and ZELDA on it's console, but outside of God of War/ Rathchet and clank, nothing even looks good. Consloles need exclusive, popular titles to help sell them. We've known that since Colecovision and Donkey Kong
(or Space Invaders and the 2600)!

To be fair, it did a lot of good to Nintendo to be humbled like that by the entire market. It also opened up some nicer licensing for developers there for awhile and spurred some new thinking. Thus, I think we have every reason to be happy if Sony falls, as the transition to the new boss is an exciting time, and as it means come next generation Sony may offer an incredible product.

Sony is now comparable to the Nazis. We're all Jews.
That's hilarious. Okay, I'm done now...<nothing to see, move along>

But the bosses don't look the same, and they don't think the same. It just depends on what you are looking for in a system, but this is the most radically diffent set of consoles as we have ever had.
Sony put gaming behind Bluray, and just figured people would "work harder" to be able to afford their "superior product."

Also it has been rumored and heavily speculated that Sony will maintain the $499 price once they sell out of the 60GB version. If they announce that the 80GB version will cost the same nobody will buy whats left of the stock they are now sitting on. Since the 80GB will have software emulated backwards compatibility and its less expense to manufacture than at launch it doesn't seem out of the question that it could still be at $499. If they take out the packaged game (Motorstorm) it actually seems really feasible.
I'm not saying that it will happen, but this is what I've been reading recently. If they can maintain the $499 price into the holiday season they will do OK.

I wasn't saying they're Nazis, you missed the entire point of my post. I know that the "Pimp my Ride" demographic that I usually see in Gamestop would have trouble grapling with my analogy, but I didn't suspect anyone on this board would.
