Now I'm starting to pity Sony

Postby Superjay » July 15th, 2007, 12:01 am

I agree with you guys about there first party games possibly jumping ship at a latter date. I think that still doesn't take away from the fact that very soon they are going to have a few good games to play. Now I hate Sony as much as the next guy but I'm not going to act like the PS3 just has a huge list of negatives and absolutely no positives. We need to try to think more open minded and less biased. Imagine how much this site would suck if the VGC gave every PS3 game an F just because it was on PS3.

The inevitable "stockholm syndrome" post has now arrived. Really, are we doing anything but reacting to an obvious array of bad news? How is that bias? Who is saying that the system will have no good games? Who is saying that there isn't some fun to be had on it?

The only dose of realism that could perhaps be used is that some people have begun to imply that Sony will just stop making consoles after this generation due to their current struggles. Now that's silly. You can't hit two grand slams and then just retreat after your first weakly hit grounder.

Look at the Critic's reviews for the PS3. No F's at all, pretty fair reviews across the board. I think The Critic has proven that one can be critical of a console yet review the games fairly.

The more multiplatform releases, the better.

I really don't have anything against the PS3 aside from the ridiculous price. The only thing is, before it came out I saw a good list of exclusives that would make me want the console if/when it came down to a reasonable price. Right now, however, the only exclusive left I care about is Ratchet and Clank 4, and the prospect of God of War 3 (not announced yet to my knowledge). That doesn't mean I don't think there are good games coming to people who have PS3s; it just means I think anyone with an Xbox 360 can enjoy the best of them, too.

[/QUOTE] I just mentioned that there were  a few good games on it and people just crapped on that idea making it look like they will never stay exclusives anyway yadda yadda yadda. I think you need to reread my post because I said it would suck if the VGC had only F's for the PS3 games. Not that there are F's. I was trying to give the VGC reviews as a shining example of how not to be biased.

Fair enough. But you did say that "we" need to be less biased, as if we are just picking on poor 'lil Sony, which was mainly what I was responding to.

Sorry if I was a little bit grouchy . I probably wrote the post in the morning or something.

Sony has far more games in the pipeline then Nintendo! It also has many more original IP's! Oh I forgot, Nintendo does have WiiFit! Yikes! Anyway, I for one can't wait to play Ratchet & Clank, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2, MGS4, Motorstorm (I just got the PS3), Warhawk, etc, etc. I actually love all of the systems (not too thrilled with the Wii yet). I have been coming to this site for a few months and it surprises me that the "mainstream" hatred of Sony has made it to this site. I thought you guys were smarter then that; I guess not.

HAHAHA!  I was hating their videogame systems well before it was mainstream.  I started in 1995 or so.  Now scurry on back to the playground.

Unlike my freind Atarifever (sorry, 7800 is still#1 though!), I didn't always hate Sony. I chose the PSone over Saturn even though I was a Sega fan. Although I didn't get into PS2 until recently (only because I was given a system free) I admit it (at least the Slimline model) is a great system, and I've yet to run a PSONE game on it that doesn't work. I never got a PSP; The DS system had games I coveted more(plus was GBA compatible) but it's deffinitely the cadilac of handhelds. Up to PS3 Sony's systems have been a'ight wid me.

But SIX HUNDRED SMACKERS for a game system!? I can get a terrific PC setup (with better games and more choices) for $200 less! I've never played PS3 so I can't say it's BAD, but they priced themselves right outta the mainstream market. I mean the NEO GEO was expensive in it's day but hell it WAS AN ARCADE CART SYSTEM for the home! PS3 is not THAT much better than the 360! I think sony got greedy trying to push blu-ray. They deserve their fate!
