Rumor: $100 360 Price Cut...
After recent comments by MS on Xbox 360 price cut plans, the rumors of sooner-than-expected price drop have filled the internet and now MaxConsole reports:
"A major Canadian retailer has confirmed that the Xbox 360 is set to receice an Official $100 price drop across all Skus as of August 1st. That will mean that the Xbox 360 core will retail for $199 (with a pack in memory unit) and be even cheaper than the Wii at $249 USD."

If that happens before Halo comes out 360 will dominate this christmas with both sales of consoles and software. Actually I think the Wii and 360 console sales will be neck and neck.

Rumor: $100 360 Price Cut...
If that happens, it's all over for Sony.
I'm sorry, but this just isn't the case. Sony isn't doing THAT poorly. The PS3 has been out for 8 months and its selling just as well as the 360 did in the same time frame. Microsoft sold around 9.5 million 360s worldwide in its first year and I don't see Sony having a problem doing the same.I could understand if Sony had only sold about a half a million units worldwide...but thats hardly the case. They have sold roughly 4 million PS3 up to this point. Its not cleaning house like the Wii, but Sony certainly isn't in all that bad of shape. The PS2 is still selling through the roof and the PSP continues to move units.
Sony would need to see a worldwide implosion of all three systems for them to bow out of the videogame market. Just because the the 360 is outselling the PS3 in N. America doesn't mean its the same way across the globe. In Japan its a different story, and during the month of June I read that the PS3 outsold the 360 and Wii in Australia...
I don't think its, "all over" for any of the three companies so why don't we save doomsday talk for another thread...around 2010...

If the core 360 really will be $200 with a pack in memory card, it would be a much better value than the Wii. Nintendo would have to make a quick price drop, which I believe they could afford since they actually profit off of the sales of the Wii. Plus, I bet Sony would have to think harder about how far they drop the price of the PS3. I'd pick up a 360 without a second thought if that really is the case. This would be great for me, and every other gamer, too.

One nice thing about GC was it was a very economical console, about a year after launch I got my GC with Metroid Prime for $150. I probably will never do better, but neither will you, haha!
