Rumor: $100 360 Price Cut...

I heard next year they are going to make a 200 gig PS3 and then raise the price $100. Little Big Planet is supposedly going to be 125 gigs alone. This is just s rumor though.

Well, my thought was that if the core 360 came with a memory card for $200 than people might buy it over a Wii. Of course, I didn't really think that through hard enough, because the demographic that wants the Wii is pretty different from the demographic that wants the 360, so Nintendo probably wouldn't be too hurt from a 360 price drop. Sony, however, may have to drop another $100 to stay competitive if this happens.

I really hope this happens exactly as ya'll say it does, because I don't really need all of the premium 360 features, but I would have to pay the extra $100 just because I'd feel like it wasn't worth it to get a core 360 and memory card for only a little less than a premium with a hard drive. If it drops $100 with a memory card it's a guaranteed buy for me, but I'd have to think on getting the premium for $300 if the core didn't have a memory card. Either way, and whether Nintendo drops the Wii's price or not, I really think they'll both be at the right price for a gaming console if this happens.

I say this with complete certainty:

If two years ago top Sony execs had been given this one piece of this one post from the future, they would have dismantled the entire PS3 project and started over.  That the "good news" is that they won for one month IN AUSTRALIA, they would know things were going to go very, very poorly.

The day that the Dreamcast was discontinued (I think this would have been in 2001 sometime?) I went to CompUSA and got a Dreamcast with Sonic Shuffle and a VMC for $60.  Last one on the shelf.
