New Football reviews...

Postby JustLikeHeaven1 » July 23rd, 2007, 4:25 pm

Hey Critic, I was just wondering if we can expect new football reviews from you anytime soon?  Football season is right around the corner and I know you must be salivating at the chance to use Willis McGahee and the Ravens...

I wanted to know if you have already picked up All Pro Football 2K8.  If you have do you have any early impressions that you could bestow upon us?  The general buzz around the net is that it has terrific gameplay, but its a pretty bare-bones package.

Just wondering.  Thanks.

On a somewhat related note, the last football game I bought was NFL Football 93 for the Sega Genesis.  It was the sequel to my favorite football game, Joe Montana Sports Talk II so I had to have it.

So far I've only had a chance to watch a friend play it, but it didn't blow me away.  The graphics and gameplay seemed on par with Madden, but the fictional teams (Baltimore Sailors) and players (Korey Mustard) didn't really do it for me.

I was expecting 2K Sports to really kick Madden's ass this year, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

You know, reading reports of what 2k Sports was trying to do left me a little frustrated. Don't try to out Madden Madden. Not going to work. They should have done something totally different with football.

Provide gamers with a choice, not a clone with no license.

I have enormous sympathy for anyone trying to make a football game without the liscense. It don't matter how good a game they make, because a huge chunk of people will judge it irrelevant because they can't play with their team and its players.

Bad (for us) and predictable decision by the NFL to grant EA exclusive liscense. I would like to know how much of EA's total games sales is just off of Madden. Wow. I don't really care for football games, myself, but if I do pick them up I wait a year when they are heavily discounted and in 2 years they are basicly free.

the game still has its share of licensed real players. Realistically, you can't fill full rosters with legends only. Lineman are usually forgotten as are long snappers. I personally wouldn't mind the fake teams with legends on them. Besides its got the "i didn't murder my wife but i'm releasing a book on how i would have done it if i were to do it" oj simpson!

Hey, Critic, review NFL Sports Talk Football 93 for the Genesis. It is a good classic football game.
