I love video golf games but they're so unforgiving. The computer makes ridiculous perfect shots on a regular basis and its so easy to get screwed in the game especially when you hit the swing button by accident and there's no safety algorithm to cancel the shot if you don't follow through with part 2 of the three part swing. Mari golf had this safety feature but nes games didn't. My favorite is still Lee Trevino Fighting golf for the nes. My question is, has anyone managed to shoot under par? My best is +6 and was quite proud of my +12 84 last week.

I've made tons of under par runs at Wiisports Golf, if thatcounts. Never been too much into the sport to have played any other games a great deal. I remember enjoying Fuji Golf for my dad's old computer (came free with Windows in the early 90s), but I also remember both sucking at it and not having a clue as to what I was actually doing ("what are these numbers and letters I can choose for? Let's try playing the entire course with the PT button selected!").

I am not a big fan of golf, but Ninja Golf can be pretty fun sometimes.

The only three golf games that I ever really enjoyed were:
Golf (NES)
Golden Tee (Arcade)
Hot Shots Golf 3

Anyone play the Golden Tee 'plug and play' (comes with a trackball)?....that should be good.

I sold my Mario Golf GC because after playing WiiSports Golf, timed button power bars just do not cut it anymore! Once you get used to the power meter on the wimote, you can make some awesome shots, and it is very satisfying.
Other than those, I have played old NES Golf on Animal Crossing, and I thought it was horible.
Dickens holds the course record on my Wii with a 4 under par for the 9 holes offered.

Personally, I think the Mario golf games are the best, including NES Open Tournament Golf. But probably the N64 version is my favorite.

It's a scam. I was going to get it for my dad for Father's Day until I looked into it. The game is not remotely like Golden Tee... it's got 8-bit-style graphics and apparently the control is nonexistent. Here are a few personal favorites
Tiger Woods Golf (Multi)- any of them from the Gamecube, PS2, Xbox era to now.
Hot Shots Golf (PS1, PS2) - These games are great there isn't a bad game in the series.
PGA Tour 97 (3DO) - For a long time this was my favorite golf game. It was easy to play, forgiving and it looked great.
Kirby's Dream Course (SNES) - Sure it isn't your typical game of golf, but its one of my favorite SNES games. I played the hell out of this one when I was younger.
