Gamestop Complaints

I am seriously getting tired of people complaining about opened new games and our shelving!!

If people didn't steal, we wouldn't gut our new games!!  And we are not allowed to take home copies of new games, only the used ones.  Also, if the case plastic is grimy with fingerprints, then ask for a new one.   If not of that meets your requirements, then go shop on Ebay for and unopened copy of the game!!

Now, if you want to complain about our unorganized shelving, go work at a Gamestop for a month.  We work very hard to make sure that our walls are in order, but we cannot follow every customer around and pick up after each and every one of them.  We are only allotted so many payroll hours.  We are just as frustrated about the walls being messy, but we are frustrated at you, the customer for doing it!!

So, maybe now you can try to put yourself in our shoes and see how it feels.  There is not one single Gamestop employee that isn't irritated by customers like you.

I will say you're not gonna get a lotta people to support you here, but I admire your guts for trying!

I never buy new games from gamestop.  I never trust if they are open or not.   I only buy used games there because I assume they are used.   You talk about how hard your job is, but come on you got a easy job.   only about 10 percent of the time I go into a gamestop are the employees actually working.   Most of the time they are just standing around talking about video games.   Sometimes they are even playing the display games, even if the customers want to play them.

You say its your company policy not to play the new games, but I know most gamestops don't follow policy.   I'm sure its in the policy not to play the display games also, but that never stopped them.   Probably my worst experience in a gamestop was one time I wanted to buy a game, and the employee made me wait 5 minutes until he was done playing his game to check out.

I understand exactly where you are coming from (I almost lost my hair back when I did merchandising), but there's still no excuse for EB/GameSpot's 'used as new' policy. The company needs to either lock up expensive titles (Blockbuster), put games in security boxes (Best Buy), put all games in a display case (Wal-Mart) or stop calling them new. Ask any electronics retailer: once the shrinkwrap is broken, it's now consider used, period!

As for the messy shelves, yes customers can be pigs. However, every single EB/GS store I've been to has almost no organization on the shelves whatsoever. The managers could be doing a much better job setting things up and clearly labelling what goes where.

Work harder - its your job - what's next we gonna eat at restaurants that don't clean tables cause they only have so many payroll hours?

I have never spent a dime at gamestop, and I never will - but that is my unsolicitated advice. I give as much business as possible to used gamestores, the local ones.

man I don't know... Purchasing new games that have already been opened really irritates me.  What is even worse, Gamestop is now putting their barcode stickers on the *inside* of the see-through packaging.  Right on the paper inserts!

Let me say: I don't give a crap if a Gamestop employee is irritated. Everyone that I have ever spoke to there are huge nerds, irritated by customers, and possess the people skills of an Nazi SS officer. Quit talking to nerd # 2 about how many hours you have poured into whatever MMORPG game you have replaced your social life with and quit trying to sell me a dumb video game mag that covers First Person Shooters only.

Go screw yourself, nerd and get a real job if you don't like it. Time to quit playing with toys if you can't deal with the boys.

If you and your fellow employees ran better stores, your rant would be valid. As is, Gamestop as a whole sucks and I have decided to boycott until these three things happen.

1) Better organization. If you can't manage it yourselves, hire more employees.
2) Selling older games. You'd be surprised how much more money would flow in if you actually put out pre-PS2 games for sale.
3) Better employee attitudes. Pretty much every Gamestop employee I've met is a big dumb jackass who treats all customers like rubbish and knows nothing about video games. Is a little kindness and intellect too much to ask?

As a socialist, I certainly can't ever blame you, the worker, for what your terrible store does. I understand completely.  There are better ways around all these problems than the ones chosen by the guys in charge of your soul crushing, generic, "store" though.  They could pay to have more staff on so there'd be more time to clean the shelves.  Not your fault.  Wal-Mart is even worse than EB, Gamestop, etc for this.  It's like "you guys make that much money and can't hire an extra employee or two to make sure your place is organized.  Oh, guess that'd interfere with the gas money for your jet."

Why in the world do they gut new games though instead of simply putting a display box out?  As for you guys taking games home, I'd like to see you get a few more benefits than that. I have no problem with you guys getting a little something for your troubles.

You mean like McDonalds?  Where a table cleaning means running a wet rag over the table once?  The same table a toddler spit up on and a fat dude sneezed pieces of Big Mac onto?  Doesn't bother me, because I'm not a germaphobe, but I'd hardly put eating off a dirty table on the "what's next" list.

Ironically enough that's one complaint I'll never make against EB. I find their employees work hard and are quite helpful and knowledgeable. They're overworked and forced to try to shovel garbage down gamers' throats. I've never once seen an EB employee playing a game and most time, there is a huge lineup at the counter.

The local stores are where I have this problem. I don't visit the local guys because the guy at outlet #1 is too busy playing games and eating Mcdonalds in the backroom to notice my presence and outlet #2 usually has a large group of buddies in playing D&D in the middle of the store. In both cases I can't even get an employee to aknowledge my presence, let alone allow me to drop some cash. I just wish there was a game store that allowed gamers to walk in, pay and get out without the BS.

I can't get over these ignorant 'get a real job' comments. Do you like everything about your job? Do you think everyone who does crap jobs does them because they are lazy? I did a crap job like this for 7 years because I had to have an income and it was impossible to find anything better.
