My only complaints about Gamestop are with their policies, not the people working there. I worked for Walmart for over a year, so I know how soul-sucking this type of job can be. And really, I can't think of a single time when a Gamestop employee treated me rudely. Yeah, they try to hit me up for pre-orders and try to sell their discount card to me and such, but never once has someone been a jerk about it. I just straight up tell them I'm not interested, and they leave me alone.

To Hell with Gamestop. If they sold baseball cards, they'd put price stickers directly on them. Probably on the back covering the stats.

I go to gamestop a lot because its the only place I can find some games that I can't find anywhere else like older games for ps3 or 360 that I haven't played yet. I used to work at a gamestop absolutely loved it yeah the rewards program is one thing we def had to ask people and pre-orders but if they said no you can't force them to change their mind. Just working there and being able to rent games was the greatest thing. Movie Gallery was the same way when I worked there. We had to push pre-orders, powerplay, and concession sales but it was an enjoyable job. When you did make the numbers it was very rewarding. But going back to the rewards program it is worth it only if you are going to use it a lot. $15 for a year is not bad at all.

Give me my props. I'm finally in the exclusive club. That's right! I'm now officially a Power Up Rewards Member. YES!
After years of saying no, I finally said yes. See....., that invasive persistance pays off, even if it takes a few years.
Honestly I did it to get the magazine. They gave me two back issues as well. I really like the magazine. I just wish they'd do more reviews & forget the stupid previews & interviews with programmers from 1984. I got an issue that's, I think, 14 months old that covered several pages previewing Bioshock Infinite. Game is still not out. How stupid is that?
I don't like to buy much from Gamestop. I'm fussy about condition. If a game is really cheap I'll buy it & not care, but on some games I want a barely used game & I feel like a schmuck standing at the counter inspecting a disc & then saying "No thanks".
Just recently I got a game that actually had a small piece of the inside of the disc broken off. Imagine forcefully putting a disc in a PS2 a hundred times, notice it has a small crack in it & then selling it to Gamestop (D-Bagger).
Besides the magazine I get.... what is it?.... 10% off most used stuff. Even if I only buy 5 things a year that will pretty much cover the cost of the membership.

Be careful with Game Informer reviews. They hype the crap out of some games, and if said games end up bad, they end up with higher-than-average review scores. This doesn't always happen, and the reviews section can be useful to locate some under the radar titles.
There are three stores in Manchester, CT where I used to live, and one has always had crap employees. It used to be a FuncoLand. The employees there have questioned my game purchases, told me games sucked outright, and have been for the most part jerks. The other stores are in a large mall and I don't go there.
In Hartford there's another GameStop but the employees are pretty cool. I was looking to buy Just Dance (Wii) for my mom recently and went there to buy. For some reason, this two year old game was $40. The brand new Just Dance 3 was also $40. We had a good laugh about this and talked shop for a good 20 minutes before I went looking elsewhere.
The great thing is new stores are popping up all over, and so there's all kinds of new places to explore.

I just sent in a job application for one of my local stores, the employees have always been very friendly and it's pretty close to where I live, so hopefully i'll get an interview soon.

Lets be honest; the only reason I go to Gamestop is to get Game Informer, which I love. Other than that I don't really set foot in there.
On the other hand, my local Target is way better. They have some sweet deals, a wide selection of new games, and the mysterious key to the games! I was actually tricked into thinking one of the copies could be pulled out, but as it turns out, they pull THAT, opening the glass door! It's actually a model! Man Target is so cool!
With Gamestop, it's boring in comparison. Do I really want a new or used sticker on my game? How about put it in a section that says "used" or "new." It shouldn't be that hard to do that.

My job is at "Gaming round the corner". A shop in my residence in MD. We don't open new games, we keep them sealed, we have guaranteed orders, if you don't receive your copy, you get a check for the retail price of the game.

Must be quite a commute between your PC (With internet service stolen from a neighbor) to your apartment/store. Got an entire state between the two.
