Gamestop Complaints

Postby Stephen, Arbain » February 2nd, 2012, 12:28 am

I am an employee of the shop, we double in a movie rentals shop, we have quite a Sale as of now. The game shop is not for rentals. The shop is going having major inventory overflow, in fact tommorow we are expecting several customers. We have been promoting the stores sale. Tommorow from 7-8:30, our inventory is taking major cuts, as we will be be relocating about a block away. We are a branch of Josephs movie rentals. Unfortunately due to company rules I cannot post our exact location to public sites. We are a branch of Josephs movie rentals, in Hagarstown. If you would like any details of relocation after our inventory sale, ship me an e-mail at my personal e-mail adress.

Please, as funny as it is, please take my e-mail adress seriously, as it may help after we relocate after tommorows sale.

@Leo: Hey, if its free take it man. Our shop is supported through a branch of Josephs store. He is as kind to have rented his town house. Since Jaron, Jake, and I barely seen each other before we were divided our portions of the place, although Rob and I were great freinds before. But lets not get personal here. Also Leo, an entire state. You shouod be considering the fact of where the signal is coming from. Since the neighbors get theyre service from an Ohio internet company. They are covered from a hotspot that is HUGE. Good way to save money. Still recovering from my trip to Sebring.
Back on subject here, e-mail me for further info on our relocation.

If you guys are in the area, you should check this place out . My brother lives right up the street from it so every time I visit we pop in. they have a good selection, reasonable prices and you can haggle with them if you'd like.

Gamestop Complaints

I wish the market was large enough around here to support independent stores. Everytime one appears, they're almost a fly by night operation and seemingly gone the next day. Bought Mario Kart Wii at launch at the most recent attempt here (Which is a two college village with no shortage of videogame buyers) only to see it close a few weeks later. No one has braved the waters to try since then.

I've grown tired of GameStop (Although I like the manager of the nearest location, but I'm sick of most used games being in generic cases). I purchase most of my games these days via online retailers.

Good news, the sale was a HUGE success. Joe was impressed. He was a heavy supporter in our double shop. We couldn't afford much new inventory after the demand of MW3. Thankfully, we sold out of several items, here is our price table.

Any used Xbox/360/PS2/PS3/WII game used: 5.99.

Any of the above new: 13.99

DS/GB/GBC/GBA used w/o box:2.99

Above w/box: 6.99

3DS/DS/PSP NEW: 15.99

All other used inventory in the retro section: 4.99

Systems:

Wii:99.99

Xbox 360: 119.00

PS3: 129.99

3DS: 129.99

PSP: 59.99

DS/ DS Lite/DSi/DSi XL: 49.99

All other used/new systems: 29.99

After totalled: we made a profit of 5,792.98: and in just an hour in a half. We are expected to hear Joes demand of profit percentage and relocation soon.

Back to gamestop......

Well, consider me one of the lucky ones. The local gamestop I go to is actually quite nice. The shelves are somewhat-alphabetically organized (not all the way, but it isnt a problem.)

Second, I have not run in to this "Opened New Games" stuff. Everything I buy new is sealed. The tags and whatnot are on the wrap, so they just come off with it.

Third, and this is where I consider myself to be most fortunate, the staff is GREAT. They ask if I need anything when I'm browsing their selection, and are quite cordial. For example, I bought a new pc game (Civ V) and the guy working there had the coutesy to ask me if I had a machine that can run it! I also got a free gameinformer once. (before I subscribed)

So the whole lot isnt bad, its just that there are ones that suck, and ones that are actually qualitiy stores.

And no, I dont work there. Never have.

I don't usually compliment GameStop, but went in one today for the first time in a long while and was quite pleased. The young lady beyond the counter was extremely pleasant and helped me locate everything, most of their selection had original cases and manuals (And at least two Club Nintendo codes that were both still valid), and the prices were good. And all the used games were sorted alphabetically, something I've seen elsewhere the last few times I've visited in recent years but is still welcome when I see it.  I'll be going back to this store again whenever I'm in that neck of the woods.

Added a fair bit to my Wii collection today. Good prices these days for this system. Some of these like Excitetruck probably will only go up from here.

The Conduit $4
Mushroom Men $5
Geometry Wars: Galaxies $3
Excitetruck $3
Emergency Heroes $3
GT Pro $2 (Despite the Critic's review, I liked this franchise on the GBA so I couldn't resist)
TrackMania $4
GTI Club $5
Kororinpa: Marble Mania $5
Pacific Liberator $3
Endless Ocean 2 $9

My Wii U won't be gathering dust for quite a while with this.

Yup, that's been my experience when I come to into Gamestop, the staff are always willing to search for any game I can think of, and I enjoy chatting with them about upcoming new releases and what looks good.

I really haven't had any problems with Gamestop. They are always pretty nice and best of all, they have solid prices, especially when they're cleaning out inventory. I recently picked up about 15-20 Wii games as well for about $3-5 each.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.  I've picked up the following in the last week:

King of Fighters Orochi Saga $8
Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam $3
007 Quantum of Solace $5
We Ski & Snowboard $5
Conduit 2 $10 (pretty good price considering it was in very good condition)
Dewy's Adventure $2

I also picked up Geometry Wars for 2 bucks that I'll give as a gift to my nephew (I already have it).  I'll definitely be on the lookout for Kororinpa Marble Mania for $5 - can't beat that price.

For the most part the Gamestops I went into were well organized.  The one in the mall had several games out of place, but hey, it's the mall - that's to be expected.

I do have one complaint, however...I noticed that a lot of the generic Gamestop cases were in pretty rough shape.  I mean, if you are going to sell a game, disc alone, couldn't you at least put it in a halfway decent case?  The case that Geometry Wars came in was particularly bad.  A big chunk of it was broken off including the top clasp.  Where exactly do they get these cases, out of a dumpster??  I know the game was only 2 bucks, but still...
