I have a mixed reaction on the store. Though here in Canada our Gamestop in ebGames. Most ebGames I go to have no filing whatsoever so finding stuff is always random. Most used ps2 games are overpriced and finding good ones is nearly impossible as 90% are older sports games. On the other hand, I've found some real gems at the store at good prices every so often like Futurama complete and mint for $24.99 which is lower by $10 -$25 compared to eBay as well as finding a copy of B-17 Fortress II on the pc for $10. Other than those however the store is very lacking and they really need to revise their n64 game pricing. Its horrendous.

Here's my question/beef. You have this manager guy for a video game store and he doesn't play video games. That part doesn't bother me because some people just aren't into them. Hell, even the former president of Nintendo made the claim that he only saw them as a business commodity. This is my question, though. He's just some guy in a dress shirt, that guy who makes up the schedule and maybe rings a few people up and tells certain people what to do. A). Did he actually go home, google video game forums just to bust some chops(great for business, might I add). B). How did he just so happen to stumble upon our little abode?;-)

My guess is he doesn't work at GameStop and just wanted to stir up trouble, perhaps even being a regularly user of these boards.

Or he's more of a videogame fan than he apparantly led on judging from your post (I've ignored this thread after the original post, I didn't see the need to come here out of the blue to be insulting and haven't been in this thread until now), and take's offense to the reputation GameStop has at many videogame boards and took this rant to several boards.

The reason employees are so "nice" at Best Buy is because they work on commission there.  I've had the opposite problem there:  getting bugged by too many employees when I want to take my time.

In canada its the opposite. Futureshop is on commission but Futureshop owners Bestbuy are not on commission. I hate guys on commission though. Their always annoying me incesseantly to buy dummy protection I mean warranty protection. Does anyone ever notice though that when you need help, no one is to be found but when you go in there to browse and not be bothered, they can't leave you alone? Happens everytime to me unfortunately.

i find that a simple "no thanks, just looking" is enough and it takes me 3 seconds to say...no biggie. and i am not targeting you at all, but some customers go into a shop with an attitude like "i'm the customer, and i expected to be treated like a god...oh, and i also want to pay the absolute lowest price possible". at the electronics store where i live, the customer service used to be crap (it's gotten better though), but i keep going because their prices are the lowest in town.

and as far as the sales clerk offering warranty protection that's not really necessary, i'm guessing that upper management forces their employees to say that, so it's kind of unfair to attack the messenger in this case. again, a simple "no thanks" is more than enough. problem solved.
just sayin' is all.

I won't claim to know Best Buy practices however, I would find it curious that 'all' the employees work on commission. Besides, I am talking all employees at Best Buy are friendly.....the person who greets you at the door, the cashier, the service desk, etc. I also don't know if I believe that people who ask you if they can help you in the CD dept are on commission.

I'm not trying to argue. Best Buy was also an example. I find the people at most stores to be very friendly. Also, there is a difference between "indifference" when being taken care of vs. just outright being rude. I never "bash" things on this forum or anywhere else, but this post just got my goat.

Guys whats up with all the Walmart hate.  I'v been a manager at Walmart for 7 years and I work my butt off trying to make all 7000 customers a day we have happy.  Expectations from a Walmart electronics department should in no way be compared to a videogame specialty store.  They have what 50 customers a day vs our 7000?

Please quit spreading lies about Walmart.  If you want actual facts about the company go to Walmartfacts.com

Oh and I do have a soul btw.

Wallyworld, there is no hate for you, only love bro. You state that you've worked for Walmart for 7 years and that you work your butt off, and I believe you. I also believe that you probably should be getting paid a lot more than what you're getting paid now, and that upper management probably gives you the short end of the stick more often than not. It's just that when a company is making billions and billions of dollars a year and doesn't pass on just a little more to its managers and employees, it makes people a little upset.

How is it that this thread attracted a Wal-Mart manager!?!?!? I cant believe how out of hand these negative forum threads have become! Does anybody think they are going anywhere with this!?! But just stop before a war happens.
