Ninja Battle!

Ninjas are constantly used in videogames because they simply rock.  My question is what is the best Ninja franchise of all time?  Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, Tenchu or other?  Let me know what you think.

Let me just say up front that I think the first Tenchu was incredible; finally, somebody made a ninja game about stealth, not just hopping around and throwing shurikens at commandos.  Unfortunately, when the Americanized Tenchu 2 came out I was severely disappointed.  That was the last Tenchu game I played, not because I signed off on the franchise but because I have nothing to play the newer one on.

Despite Shinobi not portraying ninjas accurately, I used to play the hell out of it at the bowling alley while my dad was there on league nights.  It will always hold a place in my heart.

And Ninja Gaiden was just too hard.  I only played the original a couple of times and died too often to have any fun.

I actually just did a quick review search on the site and I didn't find a single Tenchu review.  Dave have you ever dabbled in this stealth ninja series or have you just never gotten around to trying it out?  Just curious.

I don't know about series, but the best ninja game is the NES version of Ninja Gaiden.  It's not too hard... it took several weeks to finish it in high school, but now that I know it front and back, I can finish it in about 20 minutes (still to this day). 

 

Although "Jaquio" (the second-to-last boss) is one of the hardest bosses of all time.

And no, ninja games are not accurate-in the real world ninjas are bad guys, paid assasians who will slit the throat of anyone-
male, female, child-who gets in their way. They had no honor, unlike the Karate or kung-fu or Kai-tai followers, who believed in using their moves as defense only.

I love Ninja Gaiden for NES and XBOX. But Shinobi 3 is in the running for best ninja game ever with its sweet graphics, tight control and large number of moves.

Hmmm....So far there doesn't appear to be any clear cut favorite.  Personally I like the old Ninja Gaiden games on NES.  Those were some of my favorites games growing up.  They were hard but very satisfying.  The new game on the Xbox is also very good though I find the difficulty to be a little absurd at times.  So I guess Ninja Gaiden gets my vote.

This reminds me has any one seen the new naruto clash of the ninja fighting game?  Man naruto never fails to shame real ninjas, what with his annoying voice and DBZ esq. adventures.  Plus the game looks terrible, damn naruto. 

Anyway, shinobi for me I wish the new ninja gaiden game was actually possible.

The new Ninja Gaiden isn't _that_ difficult once you learn how to use the Flying Swallow and flip off the wall attack. Those cheap tactics allow you to kill most things.

 

The first boss might be hardest first boss ever.
