How quickly we've forgotten "San Francisco Rush" for the N64, arguably the worst-sounding and worst-composed synth score ever coded into a videogame cartridge. I'm serious!

It's a tie between two great racing games: Destruction Derby (PS) and Motorstorm. These are the only two games where I have to turn the music off.
Fatal Fury for SNES. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxhNLu6wvlQ
...wow.
I'm a huge fan of Fatal Fury, but I've never played the SNES port of the original. After watching that video, I'm glad I didn't. Yuck.

Maybe the Genesis version of Bubsy. The SNES version sounds pretty darn good regardless of the reptutation of the game itself, but with the Genesis version it sounds like they weren't even trying. It's like they created the SNES score first and then simply attempted to transfer it sound for sound to the Genesis game, which is a bad idea considering the sampled nature of the SNES sound.
There are other cases of this happening, like with Zombies Ate My Neighbors, which once again sounds very tinny in comparison to the SNES score.
Also, if you (VGC) think Rock 'n Roll Racing sounds good on the Genesis, you really have to hear the SNES version (which is the original release; a port to the Genesis came nearly a year later). It sounds WAY better. Hear for yourself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3kYqIui_XcChrisbid should listen in too since he thinks that the SNES can only handle orchestral sounds well.

Definitely agree -- Rock N' Roll Racing sounded much better on the SNES. The rock tracks are the most obvious even to the tone deaf, but beyond that even the announcer's voice sounded better.

This abomination (not just the music) makes me nauseated, as a big Contra fan.

Remember Shaq Fu?;-)
Seriously, I would go with Shaq Fu! A vast majority of that game's music seems as though it was composed on the crappiest Casio keyboard known to man!

New Super Mario Brothers had awful music that made the game feel unmemorable unlike SMB 1, 2, 3, etc.
Lords of Thunder also has music that can become annoying.
I never liked the music to Yoshi's Island.
