Fine get all technical then, but the "one" I remember most looked like a demented nunchuck.

That's one of the remote-style CD-i controllers. It's intended for menu browsing, not video games. Your point kind of falls flat, there.

Favorites
Super Nintendo (all-time)
Sega Genesis
GameCube
NES
NES Advantage
Virtual Boy
DK Bongos
Atari 2600 Paddle
Least Favorites
Atari 7800
Intellivision
Playstation / PS2 (I really dislike the placement of the analog sticks)
Any dance pad
Anything used in Guitar Hero or Rock Band, the guitars are repetitive and unlike real guitars, and the drums aren't responsive.
Eh
3DO
Jaguar (it wasn't that bad!)
N64 (I'd say favorite, but how different games alternate between the analog stick and the D-pad is a bit iffy)
Wii (varies on game)
Atari 2600
Xbox
NES Max
Dreamcast (uhhh what's with the cord on the wrong end though?)
Saturn
Master System
Television Tennis Paddle (obscure pong unit from the 70's by a company by Executive Games)
Original PS1 controller
Power Pad
NES Zapper
And since they technically should count, input on handhelds
Game Boy (brick) - good
Game Boy Pocket - good
Game Boy Color - good
Game Boy Advance - iffy
Game Boy Advance SP - would be good if the shoulder buttons weren't prone to breaking
DS (original model) - average to good pending on the game
Game Gear - average
Neo Geo Pocket Color - above average (credit for the joystick, though)
Wonderswan - N/A (only own one game so far, but it seems to control decent)
PSP - average
I'm probably forgetting some, but there's input on ones I have tried/own

NES controller is my favorite. It's convenient and durable (have you ever seen a busted NES pad?) SNES controller is the runner up because of the fact that it is clearly the most innovative controller ever considering how the design is so often imitated. Every playstation controller and Xbox controller have mooched off of this design.

Let's Talk About Controllers
Nonetheless it's still my least favorite and it's what I picture instantly.
Top 5
1.Xbox Controller S
2.Nintendo 64 [This would've been one but it's too big and the shoulder buttons are too stiff, the trigger was bad-ass]
3.SNES
4. Atari 2600 Joystick
5.Wii
Bottom 5
1. Philips CD-i [The one that looks like a demented nunchuck even if it's for browsing]
2.Atari 7800
3.Xbox Duke Controller
4.All DualShocks [They're too small and cramp my hands]
5.Dreamcast [A terrible knock-off on the N64 controller, only the triggers felt right, but the games were worth it]
Handhelds
Good
1.Game Boy Advance
2.Game Gear
3.Nintendo DS Lite
Bad
1.Nintendo DS [that D-Pad was hell and the shoulder buttons didn't feel right]
2.Atari Lynx [The button spacing was too much]

Wow. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Sega Saturn controller!
Awesome D-pad. Very comfortable. Perfect six-button layout for fighting games.
I also agree that the Super Nintendo was very good.
I don't care for the PS2 Dualshock 2 too much. Especially with the D-pad broken up into small arrows as it is. I much prefer the Pelican Wired "Precision Controller" for my PS2 gaming. It's a little smaller, lighter and has a MUCH better D-pad! Plus, it only costs $10 at Wal-Mart. So it's a lot more affordable than a Dualshock

Let's Talk About Controllers
This thread is awesome. It was kind of fun to start at the beginning and go through it.
You know I could say the Dreamcast controller for its funky cord coming out of the front but everyone says that.
So, I've got a new one.
I really don't like using the Wiimote controller sidewise. That stupid strap bugs the crap out of my hands so I never really played very many VC games because of it. The classic controller solved that problem but then you've got extra cord running everywhere in your lap. I guess I would have much preferred in all in one classic controller for the Wii. Weird, huh?

[QUOTE=scotland17]Most disappointing award for me is the official Nintendo NES Max. The Atari 5200 analog controller is criticized for its noncentering disability, well, here is a thumb version.[/QUOTE]
I actually thought my Max had a limp thumbstick and I got rid of it.
I don't know why it took 20 years for games to get good analog sticks.

ActRaiser, I feel the same way about the setup. I hate it. I actually started a thread on how much I hate it. The Wii U has a wireless classic controller, but of course there are like no VC games, so that's great. And if you transfer your Wii VC games to the Wii U, you still have to use the Wii Classic Controller attached to the Wiimote (which in addition to being the worst controller of all time, is also the worst name for a controller).
