Is everyone here as giddy as I am about Metroid Prime DS coming out in the next day or so?

I guess this subject could be used as a forum for us to share our usernames on MPH... it would be great to hear all of your voices!

This release really does nothing for me.  I will be getting Metroid Prime Pinball long before Hunters and I'm really not a huge pinball fan either.  Metroid Prime on the Cube was highly overrated and I really wish it failed so that the series would have stayed in 2D.  I just hope that the two GBA games aren't the last 2D versions of Samus that we ever see...

I'm both an FPS and a Metroid conoisseur, so I'm happy where the series went.  I'm just appalled that they made a pinball game out of it.   (I hate pinball.)

I hear they *are* coming out with another 2D Metroid, for the DS no less--Metroid Dread.  So we can both be happy.

I wonder if it'll have a deathmatch mode.  Did anyone ever play that 2D sidescrolling mech game for SNES that had a versus mode (I can't remember the name at all, it might have been Metal Warriors).  That was some awesome stuff and I think it proves that 2D deathmatches could be really fun.

That dread game was cancelled some time ago.  But I too would like to see a 2-d metroid hit the DS.

Anyway, althoguh I'm not a huge fan of prime on the cube hunters is actually really good with faster action and less exploring.  I got it today and haven't taken it online yet, I want to get farther in the single player first.

How is the touch screen used? To good effect or not?

You use it to aim and select weopons and to transfrom in to the morph ball, I call that using it to good effect.

I played it online last night and it was awesome, only played 4 matches but I had a lot of fun.

IGN says it's hard to get used to, but then allows for the accuracy in a FPS you only usually get when playing on the PC.  That's a trade off  I guess.  They basically said at first it cramps your hands, but is worth getting used to for the added fine tuned control.

How the h$ll do you aim using the stylus and shoot? How is it possible to hold the DS? Do you shoot using the touch screen? Do you have to hold the DS in your lap? That would defeat the purpose of it being a handheld game.

You shoot with the L-button, move with the D-pad, aim with the center of the touch screen, change weapons and turn into a morph ball with buttons at the edge of the touchscreen, and jump by double-tapping the "aim" part of the touch screen.  It's really not that cumbersome, but does take a little getting used to.  The aiming is about as precise as a keyboard and mouse; if you think the Xbox control pad was good for FPS's, you haven't seen anything.
