Three simple words: [b]NiGHTS... Into Dreams[/b]. Sega has already done a pretty cool 2.5D game that received universal critical acclaim and strong sales (not [b]Mario 64[/b]-type sales but big for Saturn games from that era), but Sonic Team refuses to return to this particular genre after doing it only once (twice if you include the [b]Christmas NiGHTS[/b] update). Just ask all the 'NiGHTS' fans that have been begging for a sequel since the original came in 1996 (ten years ago!) to no avail. 'Sonic' + 'NiGHTS' engine (updated for the current next-gen systems) = WOW!

By the way Alienblue Sonic Team had nothing to do with that game. Although on the Saturn version they did make the 3D bonus stage that replaced the MD one.

Oops! In my post I said SONIC CHAOS when I meant SONIC BLAST 3D.
But you probably figured that out...
Funny the critic and I came up with the same idea around the same time. No, his post was not up when I said "2D gameplay on top of 3D graphics" (now this has been done and I don't mean pandamonium
-recently! On PS2/xbox/cube, what WAS that super hero game?, the red guy runing around 3D sets?)

I assume you mean Viewtiful Joe, but it isn't on the Xbox.

The first Sonic was impressive back in the day. But, I haven't given two po-poos about another Sonic Platformer since. My favorite Sonic game is the Mean Bean Machine and then the Pinball game. Does that make me wrong?
