I always laugh when I see someone use about as "apples and oranges" of a comparison as I have ever seen to justify something to themselves.I'm sorry, but that was weak.  I'm not taking sides or anything, I'm just amazed that someone would publicly make such a weak comparison to try to make a point.  Those things are so dissimilar...

Of course it is a bit of a stretch for the sake of playing devil's advocate but I fail to how it's "weak" or a case of apples and oranges. If I take a copy of Street Fighter 2 and make small adjustments and re-sell it as a brand new game that is obviously piracy and you would call it copyright infringement and rightfully so. However, Mortal Kombat takes a lot of SF2's ideas (or vice versa: I can't remember) but they are clearly different games so nothing wrong there. However, if a game like Fighter's History comes out that's still not considered piracy or stealing although that game is such a blatant ripoff I don't even need to go into any detail. You can stand up and tell me that it's ludicrous to say the industry is based on stealing ideas but you have to admit at some point the line becomes blurred between legitimately borrowing ideas and blatantly copying and stealing, whether it's legal or not.You should know more than anyone that copyright laws are practically written by the large players in the movie and game industry to protect their interests and not some lofty goal of justice and fairness.

Forcing people to go online has nothing to do with piracy and everything to do with trying to squeeze more profit out their customer base and cut out the used game market to the greatest extent possible.  Piracy at some level has always happened in the video game industry, and yet they have absolutely thrived and make record profits.

Doesn't that allow the company of game X to include one-time codes that need to be registered, preventing pirated copies which don't have said code to be played?  I've always thought that was its intent, but what do I know?  And while I know piracy has existed for a long time, I have to think it's as high as it's ever been.  Downloading PS1 games over a 28.8k internet connection is a lot harder than downloading games today.

Obvious writes The Mad Blogger, pleading for him to unveil his super secret catch phrase. How can The Mad Blogger say no to one of his fellow Mad Bloggamaniacs (MBMer)?

And so...

...without further ado...

THE NEW CATCH PHRASE OF THE MAD BLOGGER.

The Mad Blogger is the man who
Shakes Things Up,
Breaks Things Down, and
Wakes People Up!!!

The Mad Blogger has spoken!

The Mad Blogger has too much time on his hands.

You need to post less.

Eh, it's more of a slogan.A bit too long to be a catch phrase. Catch phrases are normally short and snappy. On another note, I have a question. Are Obvious and The Mad Blogger the same person? I don't mean to stick my nose where it doesn't belong but it's just that I've noticed that anytime Obvious posts, it's always in response to The Mad Blogger. If you aren't the same people, I apologize for calling you out (especially to Obvious because he clearly has something against The Mad Blogger). I noticed a similar situation on the boards before in the case of users, bunnycorn and not available and they ended up being the same person, which is why I'm suspicious. And because everyone else is doing it,The nesfan has spoken!

To Nesfan: Obvious and the Mad Blogger are two different individuals.
The Bunnycorn/ Not Available and Steer/ James Mc Cloud issues are
past us now, let's move on! Should this kind of thing happen again though,
trust the VGC mod team to catch on, eventually.

That's good. I'd rather be wrong than have more trolls on the board.
