Steer was a prolific drama embodiment. We couldn't get his head out of the clouds enough to have a civil and intelligent discussion. It turns out he resorts to petty threats against a higher authority.
How can you guarantee a successful work life if you argue with authority figures incessantly? Me, the regular moderators here, and various other members as it turns out had been doing little but babying him in hindsight.

However, if all you want to do is create inflammatory posts, what is the point of that? Now, it seems to me that you have a lot of intelligence, and can bring more to the table than merely trolling. Do you disagree?Robert
Just to clarify I'm not proud, I was just being silly in my post. TBH I previously thought you were based upon your actions a different person(not steer) who used to post around here.

Oh, you know in the mid-West, trolling steer has a WHOLE different meaning Absolutely, I agree with you. As someone who owns his own tutoring business, whenever I am looking to hire a perspective tutor, I "steer" clear (pun intended) from those tutors who are going to cause problems. As for "Fingers" post, one thing concerns me:"Arcades are dead, but I want my arcade gaming experience."This is not good. We can't justify stealing. Just because you want something does not mean you have the right to take it. When you are downloading a ROM illegally, you are stealing. Whatever the reason you have, it does not warrant stealing. For me, I went and bought arcade games to recreate the arcade experience in my house. They are actually quite reasonable priced. If you like arcade games that badly, why not buy one?Robert

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that arcades were still doing fairly well in Japan and Wales.

Robert,So it takes repeating "stealing" three times to make a point, eh?Arcade games are not reasonably priced, as they cost as much as a current system (if you're lucky) or are far more expensive. They aren't a good fit for an apartment, either - trust me on this as I own one. The games I have been playing I have never played before, and there is little to no chance I'll ever get to play them. If for some reason my local arcade had a Daraku Tenshi machine I would play it. But it doesn't. It's like Ninja Baseball Bat Man. It had a very low run.The internet is full of people who state that usage of a rare game is stealing. Another viewpoint is that these "lost" games should be preserved, and that they belong to the public. This doesn't mean that a game you can buy (think Pac-Man) should be abused. It does mean that those games that are rare can and should still be experienced. That's my viewpoint. As I stated before:Copying a new game for a current platform is stealing. Flashing a drive to not pay for new games is stealing.Ink

Stealing is wrong. Here is why.
Let's say you own something that many people want. Now, you choose not let other people see it. Are you selfish? Maybe. But, it does not give these people the right to break into your house to see it. Or, to take it home with them.
Now, what if someone broke into your house and took something that belonged to you. You find them and their response was, "Well, I wanted it." Does that make it OK? Of course not.
Fingers, you continue to justify why you are stealing, and it does not matter WHY you do something wrong, only THAT you do something wrong. It does not matter if you steal because you can't play the game otherwise or you steal because many others are doing it.
You steal. You are a wretched human being.

Yo dude, leave the name calling out. We're not 10 year olds. Be respectful of each other and the threads can continue. Just sayin'There are also countless other threads dealing with emulation and piracy. Read a few of those as the forums have already covered this subject pretty well in the past.

ActRaiser, I never called anyone any names. Here is the definition of wretched:
A wretched person is one who is
deeply afflicted, dejected, or distressed in body or mind; extremely or deplorably bad or distressing.
Now, is someone who steals deeply afflicted or distressed in their mind? Of course. It is not rational to steal, and someone who does is afflicted and distressed. Is stealing an action that is extremely or deplorably bad? Of course it is.
We have to tell it like it is. When someone is admitting that they steal and they see nothing wrong with it, it is our responsibility to stand up for what is right and state what needs to be said.

Yeah, that's enough of that crap. If you meant to be cute then add an emoticon on the end of the sentence to communicate that. If not, then just quit posting here.
There's none of here who like to steal or be dishonest. A lot of grew up in the arcades and spent a ton of money on the games. We would buy them if they were made available and often do when they are. But some arcade games have never been re-released and never will be. That's all that Fingers is talking about. He's not talking about hacking systems and pirating current gen. games.
Big difference

Josh, I was being serious. I don't think you are reading the posts fully. Here is what Fingers wrote:
"I've downloaded just about every arcade game ever made (and their variations) and have currently been playing through Gunbird 2 and Daraku Tenshi - The Fallen Angels. Copying a new game for a current platform is stealing. Flashing a drive to not pay for new games is stealing. Have a nice day."
It does not matter whether he is pirating current games or past games, he is stealing. And that is wrong.
When you say, " But some arcade games have never been re-released and never will be." that may be well and good, but it does not give you a right to steal.
You can put any kind of spin on this, but stealing for any reason is wrong. Any person who steals is wretched.
You can't be "sort of" pregnant and you can't justify stealing. If you choose to live in some "shade of grey" world, that is your right. Also know that there are those of us who will call you on it.
