Will WiiU price drop after Christmas?
Nintendo should spend advertising dough on the bundle that I recently purchased for my son's 6th birthday. I got the Wii U, along with the Mario/Luigi disc, Nintendo Land, and a Mario controller for $319. The only problem is that as far as I can tell, only Best Buy sells this bundle. It's an amazing deal, and considering that I spent $620 (!) on an X-Box One, an extra controller, and the new Call of Duty game, the Wii U Bundle gives you much, much more bang for the buck (please note the unnecessary use of bold text for added effect).
That's a really good bundle.

gleebergloben-You bought an Xbox One eh?  I'd really like to hear your thoughts on it.

Honestly, I don't have that much to say. I picked it up for my 13 year old the day it came out. We have two games, Ghosts and FIFA 14. My son and I love to play Zombie Mode in Black Ops 2 on the 360, and I know that Ghosts only has Aliens, not Zombies, but the game is OK at best. And talk about bad programming. You can't save your progress when playing Aliens (also known as Extinction). As the game progresses, you rank up, but once you turn off the game, that's it, you go back to rank 1. What a waste.

For FIFA 14, I played this game with my son and my brother-in-law when we visited my sister and her family a couple weeks ago, and had a blast. It was us 3 against the computer, and it was a lot of fun. I got the game hoping that we could do the same online once we got home, but nope. My son and I can't play on the same team with my brother-in-law online, and as far as we can tell, it's only one on one play. This is late 2013, come on! With both games (Ghosts, Extinction Mode, and FIFA 14) we can't play as a group online (my son, my bro-in-law and me). To me, that's just bad programming by the game makers.

One final thing. I wanted to get a PS4 after all the MS garbage that was going on, but my son really wanted an XBox One because all of his friends have a 360, and my son played Black Ops 2 A LOT online. But since we got the XBox One, he's not on it very much. I don't think his friends have an XBox One, so it's been a bit of a bummer in that regard.

It's still very early, but so far, I haven't been impressed, although it's only based on 2 games.

I think a price cut right after Christmas would really upset a lot of the people who bought it before Christmas; Along with everything everybody else said.

Gleebergloben-Thanks for your thoughts, that does sound like bad programming, which is just one more reason for me not to bother with multiplayer.

Dead Rising 3 looks pretty awesome and the reviews say it's the best game of the series and addresses a lot of the complaints from previous games, any chance you might pick that one up?  Crimson Dragon also looks kind of fun, and if you're into God Of War you might like Ryse.

I just bought my WiiU with Mario and Luigi bundle at Target. They are doing ten percent off this weekend because of the credit card hack debacle. I also signed up for a target debit card to give me another 5% off giving me 15% off total. So I only paid $255 for the WiiU before tax. Anyone can do this deal through Sunday night.

This is an older thread, as I wanted to see what the Wii U prices were in the past. Here, its $320 for a nice bundle. Today, I look at Amazon and I see $350 slashed down to $300, for a not quite as nice bundle for the Wii U. So, Wii U specs have remained the same (unlike the others that continue to upgrade downloadable storage space), the prices have not gone down, the software prices remain high, gamers are commenting on scarcity of physical games, etc.

Also read recently that Miyamoto said on an NPR interview that Nintendo was basically caught off guard by tablets. That the adoption of tablets in the marketplace took the swagger out of the Wii U. Yet, look at the time line. Apple launched the iphone in 2007, and the ipad - basically a scaled up iphone without the phone feature - in 2010. Nintendo launches the Wii U in 2012. Even with years in development, I can't see how Nintendo failed to see the coming of tablets.

Here is the NPR interview where he talks about lots of topics, including the Nintendo is seeking for ways to use mobile gaming to build familiarity with their house characters, to be a gateway drug (my words) to their own hardware.

Well he is correct when he states its not just the price but people not really understanding the system, I remember when the WiiU first came out and we saw the first few commercials, all I thought was, oh no-that looks complicated. I just want to plug in the console with a couple of controllers and play.

I did chuckle when he stated that the price point was higher than we hoped, yes no kidding, its still too high !!!!

But seriously, who doesn't know the house characters of nintendo??

Interesting read though, I always enjoy learning the back story to gaming.

I see zero point not dropping the Wii U's price at this point. It should be at $250 (bundled) or $199.99 (just the console). Nintendo has issued comments that they are still going to support the Wii U when the NX comes out (probably next year) but with how little Nintendo has been supporting this console they might as well drop the price.
