Hmmmm...  If they dug up PaRapper, why didn't they dig up Crash Bandicoot?  I know he's not a Play Station exclusive anymore, but he symbolized the PS1 in the 90's!

Nice review, by the way.

Thanks Pac-Man.  You made a great point about Crash Bandicoot.  Whatever happened to that guy?  He would have been a great fit.  Did Sony sell the rights away?

No Dave, Naughty Dog had a contract. They had a 3 game limit for the series, so what happened was they made the first three games (plus Crash Team Racing, but I won't go into that) and they were done. Then some other companies came along and made a good game (Wrath of Cortx) a mediocre game (twinsanity) and an awful game (Mind over mutant
0.

Crash Bandicoot belonged to Naughty dog and Spyro belonged to Insomniac games, one is a first party studio the other used to be a second party.

But both studios sold the rights to other companies. I'm guessing whoever now owns both these franchises wanted Sony to pay top dollar for them.

Either that, or they're planning on banking on Nostalgia and they'll sell them as DLC characters

Sega needs to make a game like this.  I'm not sure what properties they still own, but the Sonic series alone is almost enough to make a game around.  Also, you can have characters from Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, Bug, House of the Dead, Nights, Panzer Dragoon, Shinobi, Monkey Ball, Wonder Boy, and Vector Man.  Unlimited DLC potential!

I'd like to see a "Golden Age of Video Game Consoles" brawling game.

The Intellivision Running Man vs. KC Munchkin vs. the square from Adventure vs. a Pong paddle would be just one of the amazing matchups available.

Even better: The Sega Genesis vs the Super Nintendo. It's so obvious!!!

I'm surprised the game got an average score (C), as I thought the concept sounded pretty horrible.  Within a couple weeks of each other, Sony released this (an obvious Super Smash Bros rip-off) and Little Big Planet Karting (an obvious Mario Kart rip-off).  None of the big three have every been above ripping the other companies off, but both of those games weren't even trying to hide it.  When it comes to exclusives in 2012, it was a pretty bad year for the Playstation brand.  2013 is going to be much much MUCH better.
