The most impressive thing on NES is this song right here.

Me and my brother used to marvel at how awesome it was you could choose what music to listen too on Rad Racer.

Playing Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time and finding you can see all the levels at once laid out on a map.  And then came the fire-breathing piranha plants and para-goombas.  Finally, being able to carry the koopa shells.  It impressed me to no end how they expanded everything from SMB.

FF3 on the NES was the first game in the series that looked (and sounded) like a technical marvel.

Eternal Wind is probably my favorite NES track.

Boundless Ocean is amazing too:

This whole thread makes me wish I grew up in the 80s.

The crystal-clear voice sample at the beginning of S.C.A.T.  "You must destroy them!  The earth is counting on you!  Good luck!"  I would restart the game over and over to hear that.

Also the sung/rapped intro to Skate or Die 2.  And I was always impressed at any measure of parallax scrolling.  There was an otherwise mediocre game called Totally Rad that blew me away with its backgrounds.  Same with Metal Storm.

Batter- back up to save games. I think Zelda was first. Baseball Stars kept track of names, player growth, stats and leagues. I loved that game so much. After 1989 any game that didn't have a battery I felt was cheap and lazy. I hate passwords!
