The user grading was a great idea and it's been implemented well too, giving weight to the Critic's score while allowing the opinions of everyone else to be heard in an easy-to-use and unobtrusive manner. It certainly beats the alternative of people voicing their opinions on review threads that get buried after a month or two. It's my favorite addition to the site in a long time, if not ever.

My greatest deviations from the Critic's scores, both on the high end and the low end, ended up being Silent Hill games. I gave Homecoming for the 360 a C- (Critic's score was a B+) and Shattered Memories for the Wii a B (Critic's score was a D-). I also gave the Orange Box for the 360 an A (Critic's score was a C+), but a lot of other people did as well.

There is the issue that some voters might deliberately over/under grade compared to what they really think of a game, in an attempt to change the average grade.

This is an issue with all voting type systems in the initial stages.  As the amount of data grows, these outliers will not be a factor.

Correct.  There is also the chance for people to do that same thing from multiple computers, in order to get multiple votes to influence the scores.

Hence why I think my suggestion a few posts back would be helpful.  Allowing people to see the full "grade distribution" would add transparency to the score and make it more informative than just showing an average score.

I hit most of the Intellivision games (I haven't played all of them).

Time to give Microsurgeon some much needed love!

I just voted for the 2 new 2600 reviews. It seemed to work, but then when I viewed the reviews again, my votes were no longer tallied. Is anyone else having this problem?
