Best Download-Only Games

Postby Captain_Crunch1 » January 23rd, 2015, 7:47 am

We all know the VGC isn't fond of download-only titles, so to change his mind, let's list the best download-only games you played! I'll start:

1) Shovel Knight (3DS)
2) Bastion (Xbox 360)
3) Double Dragon Neon (Xbox 360)

Here a few of mine in no particular order, all for the Xbox 360

Shadow Complex - Metroidvania with cool 3rd person shooting action from time to time.

Geometry Wars - Asteroids meets Galaga amped up on crack

Strider - Metroidvania

Toy Soldiers - WW1 Tower Defense game with 3rd person shooting action

Age of Booty - Pirates ahoy

Section 8: Prejudice - FPS with some cool multiplayer conventions that are pretty unique

From Dust - world building terraforming game

Snoopy: Flying Ace - It's no Crimson Skies but the closest thing we've got

After Burner: Climax - the surname says it all

Haven't tried it, but my friend Brent swears the Unfinished Swan is one of the best games he's played in recent years.  Anyone tried it?

I recently played and finished Pappo & Yo (PS3). I thought it was great! I have played the demo to Unfinished Swan and it was good.

Five good ones in no particular order:

1) Hotline Miami (PS3 & Vita)
2) Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, The (PS4 & Vita) [played on PC]
3) Shovel Knight (Wii U & 3DS) [played on PC]
4) Shadow Complex (XBox 360)
5) Super Meat Boy (XBox 360)

Also, while I don't have a PS4, I watched like five different people on Youtube play through P.T. and it's worth a download, especially considering that it's free.

It's on sale for $5 this weekend only.  I picked it up and combined it a 10% off for $4.50.

It's differently different.  If you like games like flower and journey you'll like it.  If you prefer something that blows up it's not going to be your cup of tea.  I only spent about 15 minutes with it but found the experience novel enough for the price of an expensive cup of coffee.

ie, it's $5, try it for yourself.  If you don't like it you only wasted a Lincoln.
