Thanks for the review. This one definitely seems like it brings back the glory days of the Doom series. I watched a video review from Stop Skeletons from Fighting (SSFF) and he posted really good opinions on the game as well. This one isn't anywhere on my buy now list but I think once the price drops a lot I'll pick it up for some good old hellish action.

Is "Deep Space" mentioned in the review actually "Dead Space"?

Ryan has a pretty good "play now" series for this on the Cinnemassacre Extras YouTube channel. Looks like a descent game. They brought back a lot of the old school FPS characteristics, but the game doesnt look different from any other modern FPS. Hard to break the mold these days I guess.

Ii just wanted to post a heartfelt thanks for mentioning the online requirements upfront- you're one of very few reviewers honest and thorough enough to do this. Useful knowledge like that allows us to be informed consumers who vote with our wallets.

Red Clash,
Your welcome! It amazes me how other critics fail to mention major issues like online requirements, time consuming installs, and other things that really do affect the customer. Is everybody else in cahoots with the game companies??

Nah, I think it's just that it's a moot point for modern gamers (which is who the big boy reviews target). Most modern gamers expect a little annoyance with updates and installations and it just comes with the territory for big-label games. Once their game finally fires up, and they're having a blast pumping bad guys full of lead, the forget all about it.

Oh, and too be honest, sometimes it feels that a lot of your modern game reviews have some kind of gripe about the start up process. I think it has minimum effect on whether someone purchases the game, kind of feels like beating a dead horse (hate that expression, but it fits with what I'm trying to say), and is a bit of a distraction from the rest of the review.
I'm sure lots of folks may disagree with me, but that's just my take on it.
