Huh? The original was on DOS in 1990!

Saw the same strange error in the new Doom review (the original Doom is a 1993 DOS game, not a 1995 PlayStation game). I didn't bother to bring it up then, but after seeing this twice within a few weeks, I had to comment. These are later ports you're talking about, not the original games; you might as well call Mega Man a 2008 Wii game because it's on the Virtual Console.

I see your point but I think technically I am correct. The Sega CD game is still a version of the original Secret of Monkey Island game. Likewise Doom for the PS1 is a version of Doom for the original game.

The main reason I include those references was because I'm trying to refer to reviews elsewhere on the site (the links don't always appear unfortunately).

Likewise you may notice that often when I refer to a classic game like Asteroids or Donkey Kong, I include a reference to an arbitrary console version even though the true original version was an arcade coin-op.

I didn't know they released a disk version of these games. I clicked the link for the Amazon link. Holy crap, is this game expensive. The Ebay links were much less. (I went with that).

Nice review, but I prefer to play this great games with a mouse. Also, I really prefer the original graphics... I find those pixelated graphics have so much more personality than the remade graphics...

I tried the same thing, and thought the same thing! I wonder if I can find this cheaper at my nearby Gamestop, because I'd love to work on this over the summer for for $60? No way.

I clicked on the eBay link and saw the PAL versions were only about $20. Being a bit apprehensive that they'd even work on my NTSC Xbox 360 I ordered it. Low and behold it works just fine. Even though the disk said it was PAL only, I have no problems loading it up and playing around with some of the extras included on the disk. Give it a whirl--it's definitely cheaper than trying to buy a US version off of Amazon.
