I rarely end up listening to live albums for some reason (excepting jazz) but a few come to mind:

Motorhead - No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith - Most of the best songs from the first four albums but even rawer and heavier than the studio versions. The best starting point for someone curious about Motorhead.

Slayer - Live: Decade of Aggression - Gathers up much of the band's best material (there are still plenty of good Slayer songs after Seasons of the Abyss but the albums become less consistent in general) and lets you hear it free from the poor production of some of early albums (Show No Mercy and Hell Awaits in particular) played by a band in their prime.

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys - Hendrix is general is one of the few rock guitarists whose live material is something I gravitate towards, just to hear him take a song into new places.

I can't believe I forgot to mention The Last Live by X Japan. Easily the best album from a band whose live performances always outshined their studio work, as good as it is. One of the best Japanese albums ever.
