You all know I have a soft spot for this game. I love the mechanics of switching between cameras and trapping goons. And the 80's schtick just makes it even sweeter. I never get tired of playing this.
The new remake features DVD quality video. Not high-def but you'll still see a lot of details you've never seen before. Also, the audio is so clear! I just realized I love the music. The new game has animated room icons which let you see if there's activity in any of the rooms. If you consider that cheating, you can turn it off. There's also a "survival" mode which offers a series of short stages you play for score.
There's also a set of documentaries included which I'm looking forward to watching.
I posted my initial (rough) review on my Patreon page. Hopefully I'll have the official one ready in a week or two.

Limited Run isn't winning me over by putting me on their mailing list which I didn't ask for.
I'm getting junk from them every day, and there's no way to unsubscribe.
I submitted a ticket to their support desk to see if that helps.

Can you just block their email address as spam?

There is a way to unsubscribe... On all their emails there is a view entire message link at the very bottom, click it, then on the page that shows up at the very bottom is the unsubscribe from these messages link.

That sounds like Gmail's fault, not Limited Run's.

Re: Night Trap 2017 (PS4)
I showed this to my buddy Brent who is about 15 years younger than me. I didn't think he would really "get it" but he did! He really enjoyed it! He said it was really original and the 2nd best PS4 game he's played (other than Rocket League).
Then I showed him the documentary with the Senators calling the game "filth" in 1992. He could not believe it. He kept asking, "is this REAL?"
I'll try to bang out a review soon.

He has to remember that video games were still considered children's toys in 1992 and graphics were just starting to get more realistic. Thus the shift from Pac-Man, Mario and Sonic to Night Trap and Mortal Kombat shocked adults at the time.

Also, the game was presented as being about killing the girls instead of saving them. Blatant perjury, of course, but apparently that didn't matter.

So working on this review and trying to decide if it's a homebrew, hack, both, or neither. What do you think??
