I updated this review, upping the grade from D to C-.
Considering the system, this is respectable. Thoughts?

I thought that C was calibrated to the average quality of each system's library. So a grade of C on the Jaguar is actually less respectable than a C on, say, the SNES. Or did you mean that the game is respectable for the Jaguar, so it gets a C- based on that? Sorry for being such a dork about this.

Yeah being on the Jaguar made it easier for me to move it from a D+ to a C-.
Still, I do prefer this version to any of the others.

Other than the save feature, what makes this version least worst?
Is it just the graphics?

Glad to see the wave of Pitfall reviews (and re-reviews) begin! I hope you'll be able to review the Sega CD version -- that one gets the best reviews from the Pitfall:TMA aficionados I know.

The controls felt good (when you reconfigured the buttons), and I think the graphics and audio were slightly better than the others.

It's nice to see certain reviews agree with my own experience.
I played the SNES and Genesis version a lot when these were new, and my best friend and I had far more fun playing the original atari version in the hidden level than the actual game. The graphics were outstanding for the time too, we really wanted to like it.
But alas, this was one of my first experiences with 'good graphics do not equal good gameplay.'

Why do you feel this is a 'summer game'?

It takes place completely in a sweltering jungle. Lots of water too.
