Here's a new C64 review by the C64 Critic that seems appropriate for the season.

Nice. Question for the C64 Critic: I recently played 'Giana Sisters DS' on the original DS, which I really enjoyed. Will you ever review the original Giana Sisters for C64? I wonder what you make of that game.

Thanks C-64! Been waiting on this one. A fave from that time. Great review.

While I have heard of The Great Giana Sisters, I have never played it and I'm not sure I have it in my inventory of games. If I do, or if I can acquire it, I'll certainly be happy to take it for a spin.

Also, as a beer lover and one-time home brewer, I typically enjoy a few brews whenever I'm getting my Commodore on, and I should probably comment on what I'm enjoying with any particular game. In this instance, I would like to say this game "Pairs well with: Rogue Brewing Company's Pumpkin Patch pumpkin ale".
https://www.rogue.com/products/pumpkin-patch
I found this to be a very enjoyable Fall beer, with nice spicy hints of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg - but not too much! Just the right amount. And apparently they (Rogue's) brew it with pumpkins they grown on their own farm.

Wow, your "pairs with" concept is fun and just a little ridiculous. Maybe I should make it a new feature!

I can't deny that I'm a little disappointed that you were turned off by the navigation (I never had any issues with it, but maybe I just have a head for directions), but I'm happy that the game has a review here at last. Thanks for tackling this one!

I really like the idea of beer pairings. I'd pair this with Deschutes Black Butte Porter – appropriate for the blackness of space and the general darkness of the game.

Well, a quick check of Ebay indicates that a complete, boxed copy of The Great Giana Sisters on disk is over one thousand(!!!) dollars. So unless I have a copy already on one of the many floppies littering my 'guy room', this one is looking unlikely. Unless I finally break down and go with an SD2IEC-like device and try it out via rom.

Trust me, it's not worth it. Rainbow Arts put out some incredible stuff on the C64, but that game sure as hell isn't their finest hour. I'd only recommend it if you really, really, really like Super Mario Bros. but also think that it isn't floaty enough and has too much style.

I very much second this idea. Pairing a game with a good drink is fantastic, and I love hearing about different beers from around the country.
