This seems like an appropriate forum for this news; it appears that Microsoft may be releasing a version of the Xbox One with no disc drive. This, to me, sounds pretty much like what I believe they wished to do originally with the Xbox One, until there was so much consumer backlash.

It sounds like MS will provide a way for people who already have purchased Xbox One games to download/play them digitally at no additional charge (so people won't have to "re-buy" games they already own), although the article also uses the terminology "... trade in your disc for a digital download...", so I'm guessing you have to give up your physical media in order to take advantage?

I'm curious to see if they use this is as sort of a 'bellwether' as to whether or not try the same thing with their next-gen console. MS has made no secret of their desire to go with an all-digital delivery system in order to circumvent piracy and the sink the used game market so I consider this just one more baby step in that direction.

Not sure if anyone has posted this, but you can get the Toki: Going Ape Spit Remake exclusively through Gamestop.com

https://www.gamestop.com/nintendo-switc ... top/169669

This is a remake similar to last year's Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, where it's essentially the same game, but redone with hand drawn style graphics. I'm a big fan of the quirky Genesis game and just had to have this.

Speaking of Wonderboy, the spiritual successor Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is also now available via online retailers (Amazon.com). The first print run comes with an instruction manual and stickers that fans of physical media will be happy to have. I adored the Wonderboy remake and have been itching for more games like it...this fits the bill nicely!

Holy crap that looks awesome. The best part is the wooden arcade for your Switch. That's bloody brilliant. :)

I'm going to try to get that Toki game, but is anyone else a little irked about games doing a stage-by-stage recreation? I would prefer a Toki sequel, not a makeover.

While I'd love to see a brand new Toki game, I don't think there is enough brand recognition to warrant it. So I can understand putting out a remake to gauge interest and possibly create new fans. I hope this does well enough that they can make a sequel or two, because who wouldn't want to play more games where you play as a flame spewing ape?
