Paprium Update?

Postby VideoGameCritic » November 15th, 2018, 9:41 pm

I've been waiting for this new beat-em-up for the Genesis literally for years!
I thought it was supposed to be shipped in October?

I hope this isn't a scam!

Probably vaporware.

People are fighting with Paypal to get refunds. I'm riding it out and keeping my pre-order.

Same I’m gonna sIt it out a bit longer. There is a game of sorts there according to videos from the ill fated ‘launch party’. It’s obviously not finished but maybe one day ?

I was looking for an update on this, but nothing but radio silence.

You know, at this point I would settle for a bad game. At least it would feel like I got something for my money. Right now I feel like a total chump.

From here on I would be very reluctant to preorder anything or support a kickstarter.

Not looking good I’m afraid unless something comes out of the blue.

On the upside Tanglewood is getting round to delivering it’s batches and Xeno Crisis seems to be running Ok so I wouldn’t write off new retro games for one bad experience.

Wow, until I read this post I had completely forgotten that I had backed a Kickstarter campaign in Oct. of 2012 for "Sword of Fargoal 2"! I pledged $50, and at some point I received a link for a Soundtrack (no longer works) and was contacted for a mailing address for the tee-shirt I was to receive (never received it), but I know a beta version of the game was actually developed. The last update from the developer was from the summer of 2017 where he pleads that he's unemployed and trying to get 'contract' work and find regular employment, but assuring us that the project has not been abandoned.

Obviously at his point I'm assuming all I'll ever get out of this is the old Beta they released in 2016, but it is a shame that this experience will forever taint me and keep me from backing other projects in the future.

Disappointing that nobody's linked the impressive three-part YouTube documentary on this.

To sum up: A new company tried to tackle too many other games at once, Murphy's Law was the only one that was enforced, and the guy running the project is an antisocial screw up who couldn't run water for a bath. He spent more time verbally abusing his team than remembering to pay them.
