My friends Brent and Chris were amazed at the graphics. "This is on the Atari 2600?!?"
Yeah Robot Tank is pretty sweet. Much like Battlezone but faster and more stylish. It has change-of-day as well as varying weather, including fog, rain, and snow. The only drawback? One enemy tank at a time.
I scored 42 just now, but it was tough. Can't imagine how I managed my high score of 63.
I think a defensive approach can help. You want to keep enemies at a safe distance. Also, it's possible to avoid them at night when they are most dangerous.

The weather effects are very impressive for the system, but the gameplay doesn't quite live up to the presentation. Along with only ever facing a single adversary, you have the horribly cheap ability to "dodge" bullets by just rotating until they're off the screen. Battlezone this ain't. Still a fun game, of course, and an excellent showcase of what the 2600 can do in the right hands.

Twice.
The first one was remade by Activision about 15 years ago.
It is now owned by Rebellion software. They brought out a VR version for the PS4VR and an Xbox 1 version.
