I am a weak, weak man!

Nah man, you got this. My BFF says he smoked and played video games everyday for YEARS, but was able to move on when he felt ready.

There is no question that NBA Jam was influenced by Arch Rivals. The graphics of the arcade version are every bit as cheesy looking as the Genesis version (e.g. cartoon-like) but it was pretty playable.

It's just one of those things in video game history. Even the slightest difficulty in porting the game's arcade graphics and gameplay, and it's ruined. These 3rd and 4th gen consoles had a habit of bad arcade ports. Rampage basically got ruined and people don't even view it as a good game because of how bad it looks on the NES compared to the computer version. Then there's the Model 2 games of the mid 90's that didn't get good ports. Heck, there's games like Virtua Striker that didn't even get ports, the consoles of the time couldn't handle it. I have a feeling the graphics and gameplay might be severely compromised with the Arch Rivals console ports. I feel bad for the people that worked on the game as I think it's better than NBA Jam.

Is it on a compilation disc??

You play too many games, VGC! :) It's on the Midway Arcade Origins (Xbox 360) and you even't mentioned it in the review of that compilation: "Arch Rivals is a somewhat cheesy predecessor to NBA Jam".

Wow. Never even knew there was a version of Arch Rivals ported to the Genesis. Think I'm gonna have to check that one out...
