So odd you gave Valis III a low score but not I and II?

Castlevania, Castlevania III, Super Castlevania IV and the NES Ninja Gaidens also have the boss's life bar permanently below yours so it doesn't seem too strange to me.

He mentions in the review that he likes the Genesis version. He gave that one a B.

Keep in note that the two reviews are over 10 years old/has not been played for a long time so cut it some slack, so maybe if he re-reviewed them fresh coming from Valis I and II reviews he might have a different perspective which is why it always good to look back at old game reviews to be redone to see how things have hold up better or worse as it happens all the time.

The voice acting in the 2nd game was unintentionally hilarious. I think Yuko says "it wont do to die like this" after a boss proposes to "do battle with her".
It is worth noting that the Genesis Valis III was significantly better than the port on the Turbo. The Turbo version did not even have the Parallax Scrolling that was in the Genesis version and the hit detection was way off. It was a butchered port. Valis III on the Genesis was certainly two whole letter grades better. Also, on box art alone, the Turbo version was a fail. The front cover featured a dude in cosplay/drag.

I was kind of surprised to see that low Valis III score! I may have to give it another look.
By the way I have a review of Valis I for the Genesis coming up shortly.

Minor typo, but in the Valis review I believe you said umbue instead of imbue.

Also "you Yoko" instead of "your Yoko".

Thanks for the typo alert (fixed) but the name is Yuko.
Yoko was the girl who broke up the Beatles!
