What's Advanced Warfare doing in the second section? The PS3 and 360 versions look like hot garbage next to the PS4.

In my opinion it does not look that much different, Also regardless of visuals, it largely identical ob evething else, but then again I am not a fan of this gen outside of Switch, 3DS and Vita. Anything else wrong in second section or no?

Re: Favorite console gen graphic leaps.
Wow you put a tremendous amount of effort in that I appreciate it.
As for generational leaps, the era that moved from PS2->PS3, Xbox-Xbox360 was very noticeable. I recall trying to build a PC in 2006 that could render games like the PS3/Xbox360 and came up quite short despite spending thousands.
The PS4 looks so much better than the PS3, I think the leap from PS3->PS4 is the third biggest. No comparison, the PS3 graphics are hot garbage and I am being too generous in saying that. I actually think the PS4 graphics are somewhat limited texture wise as well, I built a rig to game at 4K and going down to 1080p is very difficult. I really do notice it (my main other hobby is astronomy, I guess I have very sharp eyesight although I do not use averted vision playing video games)!
The biggest generational leap, no question, is N64/PS1 to DC/PS2/Xbox/GC. I leave the Saturn out of it, what a great and underated console. The 3D games on the N64 and PS1 looked terrible even back then and the gameplay surprising one dimensional despite a three dimensional field. The PS1 had some excellent 2D/Quasi 2D games though. 3D gaming started looking good with the Dreamcast. When I first saw Shenmue and Soul Calibur I knew it was a game changer. Little did I know back then that Sega lost that generation to an unreleased Playstation 2 - sad that a console that was hyped in 1999 kept people from buying the Dreamcast.

Re: Favorite console gen graphic leaps.
The Virtua Fighter series is great for comparisons.
I know that's unfair, and I really feel bad for laughing at poor Akira 32x, so here's how the expensive, state of the art model 1 and model 2 arcade boards compare to cheap last gen hardware.
Sometimes, it still blows my mind the kind of real time rendering power we take for granted these days.

I agree with Litch. The biggest jump in graphics was PS I to PS2 era. I was all about PlayStation 1 when it came out because it was revolutionary. But the leap in graphics between the PS1 era and the PS2 era was astonishing. I had to save up my money to get a PS2. When I first started playing it, I thought computer graphics couldn't get any better. Obviously I was wrong as the 360 blew it away. But the PS2 is still my favorite system and I think the graphics for the time were astounding. Still in my opinion the PS2 was the greatest system ever released. The Genesis would be second.

I think PS1/Saturn/N64 to Dreamcast was the biggest leap. 3-D graphics were awful back in the 32/64 bit era and do not hold up!

Rather late responses, but better late then never
For the first point, I needed screenshot examples in order to prove my point, wish I knew about it sooner but better late then never.
True that 7th gen leap is far larger then the 8th gen for the second point.
As for the 3rd point I did not see that much difference from PS3 to PS4 but that just me. And I do not think the PS3 had that bad graphics where the Sony 1st party exclusive/in mind games where the real visual stars on that system. In fact critic said that Puppeteer had better graphics then many early PS4 games which I agree with him on. Also the 8th gen had many read flags said best in these videos: https://youtu.be/Kjvmbtfz56w?t=163 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKXK1d7Jdu4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSI701GEWsA so I did not see them as a night and day leap.
For the 4th point you are right 6th gen was a huge one in terms of leaps, and 3D 5th gen was not the best especially on the N64 with poor framerate most often save for a few exceptions,
Those are all great examples in the past it was look at the diffrence, 7th to 8th gen not so much.
That gen was not only big leap, but their was more of an identity something that is not the case anymore.
Thanks, I could have not done it without screenshot examples. It was the only way to do this post right,
The 5th gen was not the best for 3D especially N64 which had very poor framerate more so then any major gen system out their.
I would love to see more screenshots/video examples because the more the better.

Re: Favorite console gen graphic leaps.
More comparisons? Sure. Might take a while to find all the games needed, but...
Starting with 5th generation 3d vs. the kind of 3d it replaced...
The PS1, Saturn, and N64 are all underrated.
