the Intellivision was let down by the control method and your review suggests that both suffer from it. Also Super cobra looks better on the 2600 and plays better. I know you did not like it but you played it 35 years after it was released. If you had played it at the time you would have been amazed.

Typo: "You'll occasionally encounter 'demilitarized' zones in which enemies but sparse" in the River Raid review.

The buttons for the game variations threw me for a loop. I figured that the 3, 6, and 9 keys must be used for something else, but nope; the overlay is empty space down the right column except for 3, which is an extra pause button for no apparent reason. I don't get it at all.

I thought the first thing the VGC would notice was the awesome title screen for River Raid! It certainly isn't the generic run-of the-mill variety that most Intellivision games have.

Put me in the minority who feel that River Raid for the 2600 is just alright, but I have much love for the Inty version. The grade should be at least a B+ (like the one given to the 5200 edition).

I will fix the typo, and you're right Teddy - I need to mention something about that cool title screen.

So which River Raid would you say is the definitive version? I've only played the 2600 version. I picked up the Atari 400/800 version after reading your last review, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Looks like the Intellivision version is the most expensive of them all, going for over $25 loose according to PriceCharting.com.

I'd go with the Atari XE version, for the best combination of graphics and control. Still, they all have something to offer.

The Intellivision version doesn't look anywhere near as good as either Atari 2600 or 5200/XE versions . I still greatly enjoy playing the Atari versions, especially the XE one.
