The clean and simple art style was the first thing to impress me about absolute drift.
From an isometric viewpoint you drive a car around multiple tracks with an aim to get as high a score as possible. This is achieved by keeping your car drifting around the course until all laps are completed.
It sounds simple but it requires a Zen like focus to keep the car under control. Once you get the hang of things the game becomes very addictive having that “Just one more go” quality to it.
Perfecting the beginner course for hours on end, I climbed the leaderboard to number 25 in the world (out of thousands). I've never achieved that before in a game so the developers must be doing something right.
Arguably the title's biggest selling point is it's capacity to entertain the player whether they have 5 minutes to spare or several hours. Absolute Drift has a timeless, arcade like charm to it that should make it as fun to play in 20 years as it is today.
