Disc-less Sega CD System?

Postby VideoGameCritic » June 20th, 2019, 10:34 pm

I find this very interesting. Someone releasing a Sega CD system on a cartridge? I assume you have to download the ROMs yourself. Still, kind of a neat way to play the games on the original hardware (well, half of it anyway). Pretty expensive though.

What do you think? Would you buy it?

It looks like it will be a nice complement to a fpga Mega SG system from Analogue. And I already have a full collection of ISO's to go with it. :)

I wonder if it will work on my Sega Genesis 3? Obviously no support there for a genuine Sega CD system, but it's still a pretty accurate system (And can be easily modded to play Virtua Racing, run Master System games, and support the 32X). So it wouldn't shock me to learn that this new flash cart would work in Sega CD mode on it.

TerraOnion released similar hardware for the PC Engine.

The MegaSD will work with the Genesis 3.

I plan to get it to save wear on my CD units. Note that it is a full flashcart for Genesis, Sega CD, SMS, and 32x ROMS.
