Good reviews and in case you are not aware that Legendary Fishing is actually developed in Japan despite it being from a western publisher Ubisoft, and the developer is none other then SIMS, yes that SIMS and you want to know what they did before this one, Sega Bass Fishing and Marine Fishing, they went from those gems to this turd is just sad!

Ah, pretty pumped when I saw this Windjammers review. When I got my Neo Geo cabinet, I bought the MVS version based on your review. It's one of the few great games that isn't on any of the multicarts, so I had to pay over $100 for it. I was very surprised to hear that they were re-releasing it on modern consoles. It seems well-regarded among Neo Geo gamers, but very obscure to everyone else. Anyway, I bought a physical copy for the PS4 (identical to Switch), hoping that it might allow me to sell my MVS version. Instead, so far I've kept both.

A couple years ago, I did a write-up on the forum here to share my thoughts/comparisons on the Neo Geo and PS4 versions. To sum it up, I graded both games at about a B (so I agreed with your Switch score), and I thought the new game was the definitive version, slightly squeaking ahead by adding online modes and other bonuses. I won't bore you with my full thoughts, but here's the link for anyone interested:

As for the online modes, you didn't miss too much by skipping those because it is so hard to find an opponent online. Online plays very smoothly, so it's a great way to get head-to-head matches (the game is not very good as a single player game - you need a human opponent). Back when I played in 2017, it was hard to find an online opponent - not enough people were playing it. I imagine the situation has only gotten worse now.

P.S. For Neo Geo owners who like Windjammers, I also recommend checking out Flip Shot and Bang Bead on the system. They are both similar games, and often compared against Windjammers, with opinions varying widely on which is best. I've played the three and might even put Bang Bead ahead of Windjammers. Fortunately Flip Shot and Bang Bead are on multicarts.

Windjammers. I used to play it in the arcades. It was good fun. It also out digitally for the Xbox 1 for about 6 bucks over here in the UK. I did not think it was worth that. Then to look at it on disc in the us 40 bux. Hmmm Limited edition. Not for sale in the UK on Switch.

Good reviews and interesting to hear of the joy cons getting in the way of a good game again. My pal has game cube controllers for his switch.

The fishing game just looks pants.

My friend Chris says the Windjammer screenshot is not showing up.
Anybody else seeing this problem?

FYI, Windjammers 2 is supposed to be coming out some time this year:

It looks a lot like a souped-up version of the original, which is probably a good thing. Unfortunately, I don't believe there's any plans as of yet for a physical release.
