Great throwback thread! Very informative and funny! I never did get a paid of those things, but now I'm thinking about looking on Ebay!

What timing. I just saw this video review yesterday. Apparently they are not the greatest things in the world.

The really sad thing is that Atari came up a pair of supposedly fantastic wireless controllers which they were planning to release with the original successor to the 2600 - the Atari 2700. The controllers looked like a cross between a 5200 and a 7800 controller (or maybe more like the Sears Telegames II controller) and from what people said, they worked really well.

Unfortunately (and not all that far off from the earlier post), in testing, it was found that they would cause interference with garage door openers and other remote controlled items (even at neighboring houses) so Atari had to scrap the design and basically the whole system.

They went back to the drawing board and came up with the ones the Critic is looking at - no where near as good from what I have read but functional.
