Beamrider drew inspiration from Nintendo's Radar Scope and Konami's Juno First.

Although I strongly disagree with you about Beamrider it is great to see new Intellivision reviews!
I LOVE the moving grid graphic illusion that is conveyed on Beamrider. I also think the constant "humming" sound throughout the game adds to the experience. Extra lives are earned by running into a yellow thingy but when the pace quickens you're in danger of accidently shooting it instead.
Critic, you'll need to put your money bag icon on Spiker, for buying the original cartridge off of Ebay will cost you nearly as much as OBJ's plastic wrist watch.

Typos: "You normal shots have limited range" in the Beamrider review, "Spikers" twice instead of the correct title in the Spiker review.

New Intellivision reviews, awesome! Always happy to see those.
I agree that Spiker is a very classy, well-done game -- a fitting swan song for the system. Pretty tough, too, or it seemed that way from the time I spent with it.
BTW the Blue Sky Rangers are re-releasing Spiker! New artwork, 100% authorized. Details are on AtariAge. I just got invoiced for my copy, so I'm hoping it arrives soon.
So, at last, there's a legitimate alternative to paying $1000+ for a classic-era copy (or playing it via emulation on Intellivision Lives/Rocks or a Flashback).

I agree with Teddy. Beamrider is an awesome game. Good points made. I think it might be my fave Intellivision shooter. Astrosmash and Demon Attack are faves too, but I think Beamrider tops em.

I’m with you on Beamrider. Fun enough, and easy to play, but you forget about it the minute you shut it off. Never played Spiker.
