Finally got past the werewolves, and the spear was key. Still, the combat in this game is bogus. When you get surrounded everybody just beats you down and you can't even react. Already down to a B!

This works in your favor, too - sometimes your melee attacks will stunlock enemies to death. The combat is stat-based and at lvl 99 barely anything can hit you.

Just hang in there - the game has a lot of rough patches especially this first part without magic.

I can get to the witch but her tiger is engulfing me in flames. Hints?

Using herbs should release the character from the flames, the bow can hit the tiger on the ledge.

I don't remember seeing herbs anywhere.

Reading this thread has been torture. Swore I'd never touch the game again after the rushed ending destroyed any sense of immersion, but I really need to know why you're struggling.

It was a smooth playthrough for me, and I know your reflexes are faster than mine. Plus, I can get lost walking in a straight line...maybe that led to some accidental exploration/grinding?

You've inspired me to return to it.

Fortunately, it turns out my arthritis was just misdiagnosed carpal tunnel, so I've maybe got some options...

Want pixelated? If you're playing the game on the SNES Classic use the pixel perfect mode and voila!

I was referring to PixelatedGenocide, but that works too!

Another thing I dislike about this game is how half the chests are armed with traps like bombs or boxing gloves. Cheap!
